If Biden or Obama had started a war that led to attacks like these on American bases—and then covered it up for months—the political backlash would eclipse Benghazi. One service member: "We're not defending these bases. We're just watching them get destroyed." www.cbsnews.com/news/new-pho...

New photos show widespread damage at U.S. positions caused by Iranian missile, drone attacks

ProPublica's bombshell that a Putin ally funded Donald Trump Jr.'s wedding was so consequential that it got extensive coverage from every major news organization in the U.S. and a segment on every evening news broadcast -- except for one. Not one word on Bari Weiss's CBS Evening News... 1/4

probably the most heavily debated "policy" in my lifetime was Obamacare and the result of it was not that any of the debates got resolved, John Roberts just randomly took a meat clever and excised like half the stuff in it on a whim. Who cares if that's how actual policy gets made.

Macklemore says “free Palestine” and the ADL applauds him losing gigs for it. Kanye West puts out a song called “Heil Hitler” the org can’t be bothered to have an opinion on it. Instead, they insert themselves into the concert venues to do trainings on hate symbols.

In addition, the ADL has been working to put together a "best practices" guide which will include training venue workers on anti-Semitic symbols, statements and other totems. Those materials will be available to workers at both of Ye's shows.

…it is entirely within the power of the courts to intervene when a rule clearly exceeds the agency’s given authority. basically, if you think the major questions doctrine is real, “can USPS reject mail ballots en mass” is a paradigmatic “major question.” alito says, in short, “nuh uh.”

the sum total of Sam Alito’s jurisprudence on voting adds up to “You have the right to vote for a Republican and if you aren’t likely to vote for a Republican, then Republicans are allowed to disenfranchise you.”

the truly crazy making part of all of this is that voter fraud EFFECTIVELY DOES NOT EXIST. you have a better chance of finding an actual leprechaun at the end of the rainbow than of finding evidence of voter fraud that influences an election

Genuinely an insane paragraph from Sam Alito. “Voter fraud is real and scary and we have to stop it, so the fact that implementing Trump’s mail ballot rule will disenfranchise millions is legally irrelevant.” Brain melted. A right-wing podcaster in a robe. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25p...

As for the equities, the Government has a strong interest
in enforcing the rule, and implementing it will also “en-
hance the visibility of Federal Ballot Mail” in order to better
detect election fraud. 91 Fed. Reg. 54972. On the other side
of the balance, the plaintiff States invoke the practical ef-
fects of implementing the rule close to the midterm elec-
tions. I take that problem very seriously, but it is not
enough to convince me to deny the application.
First, as the District Court acknowledged, the States dis-

As always, giving the Roberts Court credit for not always having five votes for doing most floridly insane thing immediately is a soft bigotry of low expectations. Anything less than 9-0 on something like this is not good enough.

So that's two explicit votes for immediately ending democracy plus Kavanaugh signaling not now but maybe after the midterms. I don't feel great about how this is going to go when they keep pushing the USPS ballot ban in time for 2028.
