There is no version of yourself you could become that would satisfy the people who hate you. So you might as well be who you are.

Excellent job on the cover art selection for this DC Finest collection #dcfinest #dccomics en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crying_...
HUGE breaking news for DC Finest!!!
Was fortunate to see THE ODYSSEY today in 70mm and I think I’ll do the Tom Holland-Zendaya double and take in the new Spider-Man move tomorrow. (Is Spider-Odyssey a thing yet? 🕷️🗡️)
Happy 65th Birthday to Laurence Fishburne
Sorta knew about this but there was more or less (with exceptions) a two year gap in recorded music in the US from 1942-1944 due to a musicians union strike against the record companies over royalties. This Wikipedia entry touches on it but the mind boggles at what must have been lost.

Musk insisting storebought tomatoes are better than homegrown tomatoes is the most perfect distillation of how ignorant he is of daily human life and the small joys therein.
Another odd moment occurred when Musk insisted that work in the future would be "optional" because robots would do everything. Musk said people might still work in the future but compared it to people who grow their own backyard tomatoes. He said they could just go to the store for better tomatoes.
It rules that the list of cities to host a World Cup Final is like London, Berlin, Rio De Janeiro, East Rutherford, NJ
The World Cup’s third place match is today and it reminds me of a fun bit of trivia—the NFL had a third place game in the ‘60s called the Playoff Bowl. Vince Lombardi had choice words for it too—“the 'Shit Bowl', ...a losers' bowl for losers."

So these arrived today—looking forward to learning all about 1940s film jukeboxes featuring performances from Duke Ellington, Fats Waller, the King Cole Trio, Louis Jordan, and so many more. (Well played @rutgersupress.bsky.social with the repost and thanks OP @brfaucette.bsky.social)
72: Soundies, Andrea Kelley’s insightful history and analysis of the early format of music and film akin to filmic jukeboxes is a great read and offers a fascinating look at the devices, films, and their connection to 40s American culture. #booksky @rutgersupress.bsky.social
Do I need another t-shirt? No. Do I need *this* t-shirt. Yes. (acquired at a great show by Nick Lowe and Los Straitjackets) #nicklowe #elviscostello
*pinches bridge of nose, eyes closed, takes a deep breath* so do we have ANY idea how many living US Senators there are right now?
This might blow everyone’s mind—AAA membership included these things called Triptiks—all you had to do was call a branch, tell them where you were going, and they would create a custom spiral bound book of hand-highlighted maps of your trip directions.
Can’t lie, the fact that y’all were driving with PAPER maps is insane. Even worse, you had to ask random strangers for directions??
the fact that I can't instantly spin up a feed of solely Count Binface news so that I can devote myself to consuming every one of his utterances and appearances shows how broken our media ecosystem is
RIP Bonnie Tyler. Best known for her ‘80s power ballads but her earlier US breakout is a great song that she just nails. I’ll be spending my morning chasing down cover versions—David Johansen (!), Rod Stewart (natch), Ronnie Spector, etc. from a quick lookup

I cracks me up when people are like "You couldn't make THIS movie or show today because people are so politically correct and sensitive!" Sir. There was an entire board in Hollywood dedicated to sniffing out any onscreen hint of married people having sex. Lucy couldn't say "pregnant." Sit down.
