I am generally skeptical of boycotts. But I don't think one can overstate the degree to which J.K. Rowling has chosen to make loathing of trans people and cruelty about them into her primary identity. Nobody on earth will suffer from skipping the Harry Potter series. Let's not make her richer.

I think Abundance tripped over the exact same problem Effective Altruism did: many of the people pushing it got immediately bored with what it actually entails and started talking up whatever gets them invited into Silicon Valley WhatsApp groups.
