Democrats have stopped talking about climate. Strategists say that's smart—but they're wrong. Making climate a top priority wins votes, and barely 1 in 10 voters will vote against climate action. Read all about it in my newsletter, "Notes from the Electric Era." electricnotes.news/p/yes-democr...

In a less deranged version of our country, skies full of smoke would inspire us to bold climate action. There’s an American majority that loves blue skies & air we can breathe more than fossil fuel profits.
If the U.S. will not address climate change or manage its oil companies, states are going to have to take actions on their own to protect their people.
"If Canada will not manage its forests to prevent these fires, the United States will look elsewhere, and act on our own, to protect our people,” said a group of U.S. lawmakers. globalnews.ca/news/1196860...
So far this year we've had: the warmest winter on record in the mountain west, a record-shattering heat wave in Europe, once in a thousand year rainfall and flooding texas and forest fire smoke blanketing the mid west and the north east. Feels like something's going on with the climate!

most of us have a fossil fuel factory in the basement and another one sitting in the driveway that’s how it is, and those are the main battles
As a climate and energy reporter, I have to admit continued frustration in trying to convince people that electrification is a climate solution, regardless of what is used to generate the power. Sigh...

Electrification of transportation is a national security and economic resilience strategy, which would work well for this exact scenario we are in right now.
The security reason to electrify transport is not about oil imports, it’s economic resilience. Oil powers 90% of US vehicles, so when the price of oil spikes because of a war, people & companies pay more for energy, which hurts the economy. The more transport is electrified, econ security goes up.
