Few things are as delightful as digging the fuck in to a subject.

4.5/5. I was SHOCKED how much I liked this movie - what a blast. Classic "they just don't make them like this anymore" action film that also has a lot to say about race & race relations in the South. Great cast, great soundtrack, tons of action, likable characters & the most despicable sheriff ever.
#nowshowing in the Nickxcom theater: Riverbend (1989, Sam Firstenberg) On Blu-ray from @reelblack.bsky.social I was a proud Kickstarter backer of this, & I cannot believe we FINALLY got a physical release. Another lost movie found! Let's fucking GO 💪🏻🍿💪🏻🍿 #filmsky #actionsky #physicalmedia
don't know how to tell her Hoult is no longer with us either, and that i will not witness him
had to break the hard news to the wife that Hans Zimmer is no longer with us
stuggling to talk metal in the office bc of comments like "I've always liked Bret Michaels from Poison because he's a type 1 diabetic"
The first(!) Area X books from @jeffvandermeer.bsky.social were this summer's doorstopper, absolute top-shelf scifi/weird that's BIG ideas, BIG action- but also tender, caring, concerned, a most human rendition of the end points of language, landscape, character. Holding onto a chess piece for hope.
The horrors don't seem as bad with buds. RIP to a real one, Mr. Bannister.
Away from my hovel so missing films these last few weeks but had some couch time w a reliable fav. The Whedon-isms got even more glaring (dialogue, women, the start of Weaver in mgmt roles, bleh) but the cast is aces (Connolly + Kranz esp) and I cannot resist the meta reveal -> SYSTEM PURGE.

Who among you hasn't put on a wig to promote something? (This is for a PolaStax reel I'm posting today.)
One of them has brought a guitar into the office today handpainted with an image of an airplane he copied from AI.
Drank from the Hose stories from coworkers hilariously recounting how terrified they were of their fathers and their brand of 'discipline'. Telling those stories and then sighing 'kids these days' really makes me think you just want to hit your kids.

Going to say that Evan Solomon deserves a one of those wedgies from the front.

This one's changed plenty, tho it still feels awful, but now I can't unsee the inherit conservatism in serial killer rock stars and the 'transcending' 3rd act is just giving up to RZ's pastiche creep bullshit. Devils without causes save their own appetites, something to celebrate in the early 2000s.
In a world of Richards, be like @paultremblay.bsky.social. Comical but also deadly, fiercely, proudly human, messy. As usual, bends structure + narrative to the story, making something new, weird, and (always) scary. PKD would be proud but also Vonnegut, this is a weapons-grade Player Piano.
Cnd backwoods proto-slasher that admits blackflys exist, so already a bad time for dudes being in the moment, not a cell phone in sight. Darkness + dread that's painted thick, genuine hardship as all the comforts get stripped/lost while being hunted, including Hal Holbrook going primal to survive.
DaCosta, in a hooded robe, chanting off-screen: LET HIM WHO HATH UNDERSTANDING RECKON THE NUMBAH OV THE BEAST Me, huddled on the couch: oh fuck yes she's going for it A+
Always something. I miss you, Atticus. Thanks so much, Mr. Neill. And it's raining ash from the biggest wildife in the history of Ontario at 400,000 ha and growing (photo from @merkanaut.bsky.social).
I’ve been working n this piece for FAR too long. Yag-Kosha I know. A household name & beloved character. But it’s just cool. From Robert E Howard Conan Lore. this is the last piece that I wanted to get done to bring to Saultcon! Fri/sat/sun #conan #yagkosha #canadiancomicartist #fuckai
Comfort (re)watch/distraction w one of my favs ever. Hanging out with the sick cat for a while longer.
Introduced NIMH to the kids tonight. Totally rapt, as it's absolutely gorgeous, incredibly tense, w some real darkness and depth and just enuff comic relief. The plow scene, Great Owl's lair, the rats hideout beneath the rose bush, the final showdow, just increadible scenes. Bluth is the man.
Very kind of Aaron to pump this one up. An oldie, but one of my own personal faves.
This @badguybirnie.bsky.social ripper is one of the most fun stories I’ve read in a minute. “When the boy grew tired of pirate stories before bed, he asked me to tell him a rock n roll story. But it’s gotta be a little bit scary, he added. So I told him about Black Sabbath.”
...ogres get to celebrate their birthdays as well. 46 today and for the rest of the year.
Another 'new director/writer' making something new-ish in '26 that's weirder + lusher beyond what the 'spot the ingredients' reviews told me and a pretty great witchy time, a total car crash of sex, power, retail, hate, and friend dynamics, officiated by Marilyn. Doesn't care what I think, wooo!
