there’s a mental habit of holding a thought as provisional and really thinking through it without being tempted to believe it that I have found extremely useful in life. a lot of people don’t seem to be able to do this — thinking and believing are inseparable for them

never thought short form video would be able to capture a type of humor i can only describe as “the far side-esque” but this comes close.

In my early 20s, I worked for a year as a cook in a one-man kitchen for a burger + ice cream place, where we killed time inventing novel food combos. My proudest achievement was the Wafbasa: A kielbasa sausage deep fried in waffle cone batter topped with hot fudge. It was unironically delicious.

That means you have to speak (and think) like a professional to get professional results. Your job is safe.
