He/him, new to this, here for the writing community: horror, fantasy, fairy tales, etc. Cheers on queer/indie authors while working on his WIP behind the scenes. No AI.

#HorrorWritersChat I lived in a big messy house with (a tiny) forest when I was a toddler, so I guess it has to do with why I love houses in ruins as a setting and botanical horror. And of course, my characters get All The Trauma.

Making it personal. Q3: #HorrorWritersChat - In what ways has your own history (past) impacted or inspired your horror writing? Examples: giving a character your childhood trauma, reimagining an experience with a different ending.

#HorrorWritersChat My current MC is 300 year old and has left a lot of corpses on his way. I have a fondness for family curses, when the weight of past crimes linger. However, no past (forgotten or untold) or just a glimpse can be horrifying on its own –we don’t know why they act like that.

#HorrorWritersChat Hi! I’m working on a horror-comedy. Don’t read a lot of historical, but 1922 (SKing "short" story), Amnesia the Dark Descent (game happening in the 19th century), Sweeney Todd (Sondheim musical, 19th century).

Welcome to Horror Writers Chat. It’s time to explore the past. Q1: #HorrorWritersChat - Introduce yourself, the horror you write, and share up to three historical horror fiction stories you’ve enjoyed. (Horror set in the past.)

He’d write in his best handwriting: “I’m Isidore and a vampire and married and nothing really interesting happened to me. 🌟The end!🌟” and then would demand a little golden statue to reward him for this exhausting work.

#AugustWorldbuilders In schools for powered people, group work and helping each other are heavily encouraged. The kids know they’re all into this together against the outside. Then again, only the rich children will get access to elaborate education, so that can create friction fast enough.

#AugustWorldbuilders, hey there friends! What is the general vibe like at your world's school? Are the students polite and mature? Are there bullying problems? Do they do a lot of group work or is it more focused on individual study?

#MythAugust Generally, this crowd is as violent, cruel and generous as nature itself. If you fuck around, you’re gonna find out, but if they decide to help you, they won’t hold back. None of them pretend to be Good And Pure. Of course, some are pettier and others are kinder than the others.

#MythAugust 3 What kind of moral code do your fantasy gods or spirits follow, if any? Do they share similar moral values to the people, or is their sense of morality completely alien? Do they even do "morality" at all? As usual, interpret as you wish and don't forget to interact with others! ☺️

#MythAugust prompt for Aug 3:
How does your deities' sense of morality align with that of people? I.e. are they moral, immoral, amoral, a mix...?

#AugustWorldbuilders Schools for powered people has limited courses because the opportunities are limited. They’re assigned to any Hero Agency to 1) fight villains 2)help rebuild the town after a disaster 3)have a job office. If they don’t show up, they’re registered as villains.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

August Character Workshop Day 1. #AugCharWork What Do They Need to Do? What do you, the author, need the character to do to make the story work? If this is your romantic lead, they need to fall in love. If this is your mystery detective, they need to detect.

Meg, a superheroine who’s a huge teddy bear of a woman and doesn’t want to hurt anyone. She rebuilds the city and protects/saves citizens when the town is in danger. She’s overpowered and as such has zero common sense because she never really needed it – but she is very good at what she does.

#MythAugust Monotheism never really took in that universe. It’s polytheistic with hundreds of gods, although the Mother-Father is the creator of the world and is the general boss of everything. Many, many temples and festivals ensued.

#AugustWorldbuilders Yes, but people with magic are separated from the others. They learn more about how to control their power than actual education - they receive some basic notions of math, reading, writing, and history, they're left on their own for the rest. They don't have universities.
