20 years in the making, woodside place would be a big addition to downtown silver spring and i'm excited it may finally happen, though i'm bummed there won't be any retail–once upon a time, it was supposed to have a harris teeter dc.urbanturf.com/articles/blo...

lost in all the discussions of dogpiling is how in elementary school if a dude yelled "dogpile" then all the other dudes would run to the source of the sound and crash delightedly into one another, forming a heap (the "pile"). this ruled and was fun and we should bring it back

a remarkably effective life hack: just be nice to people it's incredible how much goodwill people will extend to you if you're pleasant to them

As we begin the 2026-2027 school year, it's frustrating to revisit this story from the 25-26 school year, which talks about a driver hitting a child during the 24-25 school year After two years, this intersection is exactly the same. Our neighborhoods deserve much better than this kind of neglect

for months my neighbors have been fighting @mcdotnow.bsky.social for stop signs at intersections where drivers hit an 11yo, as well as my dog and I. Michael Paylor, #2 at MCDOT, literally said the best thing the county can do is “nothing” bethesdamagazine.com/2025/11/19/e...

“Whenever we put devices in that shouldn’t be put in, people disrespect them, and inevitably, something terrible happens or almost happens,” Paylor said, noting that motorists can become “desensitized” to stop signs when no other cars are present at an all-way stop sign.

Paylor noted that he was “sorry” to hear that residents felt their concerns were being dismissed. “We’re not dismissive, we’re evaluating, and we’re saying the best use of the county’s resources is not to do anything here,” he said.

Please read this thread. As usual D is right on the money here. A big reason I push for the things I do is not (just) direct affordability but the capacity for more people to be able to realistically live where they can be safe. Who and what YIMBYs hone in on can run frustratingly counter to this

sometimes i feel like i’m screaming into the void: helping people, especially trans people, move to safety and opportunity is what the yimby/pro-homes movement is all about. but the movement, as it grows and seeks legitimacy, feels quite indifferent to us

like the man in the white house, marc elrich is too angry, too spiteful, and frankly too much of a coward to know when to shut his mouth. i am ashamed that montgomery county democrats keep electing him bethesdamagazine.com/2026/08/26/e...
