[exahusted, under-resourced parent] I just want what’s best for my kids [info environment] here’s a ton of bullshit [public health guy] I empathize, trying to find what’s good and what’s not is really hard with all the bullshit [bluesky] you, personally, have murdered these kids. I must post.

🧵What is going on with Measles in England? UKHSA has reported 96 confirmed measles cases since 1 Jan 2026, concentrated in London (64% of cases) and the West Midlands (26% of cases). But what does this all mean? Is 96 a lot? Why is it happening? And what can we do about it? 1/8

I’ve been reading before bed instead of doomscrolling and my mental health has improved and I’m getting better sleep. I’m also down to 3 hours screen time per day. Another annoying win for “making good decisions” See also: quit drinking, reduce caffeine, eat healthy, exercise.

We pride ourselves on being a democracy and yet there’s a medieval theocratic anachronism in the heart of parliament: 26 bishops with automatic seats in the House of Lords. (The only other country in the world with clerics automatically entering a government is… Iran).

Great news. MPs should also pay attention to our campaigns: ● Remove the 26 bishops Religious office should not grant automatic voting rights in a parliamentary democracy. ● Scrap parliamentary prayers Attending prayers should not to provide speaking advantages🧵 observer.co.uk/news/politic...

Lords reform to be tackled by new group of MPs. After the observer raised the alarm, a new group aims to address filibustering and how to strip disgraced peers of their titles more quickly

I have no interest in trying to dunk on anyone but there is absolutely no evidence for this at all. SARS-CoV-2 has not been demonstrated to make you more susceptible to other infections by impairing the function of your immune system.

The highest rate on record.

It staggers me that no-one in public health seems to be acknowledging that immune dysregulation caused by prior SARS-CoV-2 infection is likely a significant factor in this, and the implications of this concept going forward.
