It’s weird working my way to having a life again with my chronic illnesses, pain, and disabilities. With the fact that my life will never include the career I worked for, or likely any. I definitely have a fair amount of guilt over all the things I feel like I should be doing…

Remarkable how exhausting it can be to get an infusion. Four hours of sitting in a comfy chair, napping for most of it, and it still leaves me completely drained. At least I’ve finally gotten better at remembering not to schedule anything else on infusion day!

At my apartment’s pool, and got hit with how badly I wanted to be a parent. I had always planned to adopt, and then changed that plan to fostering when I was older and understood better. Chronic illness ended that dream.

Chronic illness means that every single time I feel off I have to go through the mental list: Am I hungry? Did I overeat? Do I need to hydrate? Did I take my meds? Is this sleep deprivation? Am I overheated? Is this a new side effect? Or am I actually sick? Makes it really hard sometimes #NEISVoid

There's a lot about an attitude that rejects comfort and convenience—especially for other people—that doesn't have consistent internal logic. When you dig down, it reveals itself to be about controlling others' lives and having the power to force others to suffer.

At a Folk Song festival this weekend, surrounded by music and love and like minded people. Also mostly outdoors and not packed, and even indoors has lots of space (and I mask indoors), so I feel safe. It’s been a rough month, this is very healing to my soul.

Lovely to have it confirmed that being 38 + a PhD pretty much automatically meant being denied for #SSDI, even though we knew that almost everyone is denied at first. Apparently it’s extremely likely my case will end up with a hearing. But at least I’ve started the process of having a lawyer for it…

I wrote some poems about my struggles with my health and depression and such. Would anyone be interested in me sharing them here?

Considering things being done right now, this feels like an extremely important pride month reminder, especially for allies. Because while we’ve always been here, there is so much history and research we lose every time they try to erase us from the historical/scientific record.

Cw: transphobia, Nazis A reminder from history: Transphobes like to claim that being trans is a new thing. While there are many ways this is demonstrably false, it’s true we’re missing from a lot of the historical/scientific record… Because we were erased from it intentionally. 1/3

100% I mean if the reason you don't like someone is what they're doing than focus on that. I remember all the people who would deadname Caitlyn Jenner "cause she didn't deserve respect," no she doesn't but if you mock her for being trans you mock all trans people. Same with disability and illness.

I will never ever stop saying that it’s super important to direct insults at the bigots/facists/terrible people who deserve them, and not the many good people on your side. The way people immediately turn to ableism or body shaming, rather than the choices someone makes. 1/ #ableism

Jumping directly to ableist jokes essentially declares that you think there are disabilities or bodies or conditions that you think are lesser. That they belong as the butt of jokes. That you’re fine with alienating and hurting disabled people. That there are bodies that you think don’t belong. 6/

Do doctor and dentist waiting rooms actually have super uncomfortable chairs, or is it just my disabled body? Everyone else looks fine, whereas I’m in so much pain in this chair…

I miss academic conferences. I think I miss them more than I miss conventions. I really wish more were hybrid… (For some reason the Lavender Language and Linguistics conference is on my mind a bunch rn. Not sure why now, it’s not the time of year it takes place, but here we are…)
