I believe this 100%. The moral injury of the period, the grief from not just the too and so many deaths but the kinds of lives we had before, the laying bare of disposability, the non covid deaths it sped, the institutional strain, the collective fear and distrust, the prioritization of work anyway

The police are a full blown division of ICE at this point. They pull over anyone who is black or brown and anyone with out of state tags. Pure unadulterated profiling.
It’s completely nuts that Trump won by less than 2M votes with near universal media help and worldwide rage at incumbents and the media treated this like a permanent sea change towards MAGA and now less than 2 years later he’s the least popular President in history and there’s no media reckoning

Public libraries in this country need BUDGET JUSTICE and library supporters need to be consistently engaged in local budget fights to bring this into being. You need to know how much funding your local systems get compared to other public goods.
the thing about public libraries is that they are—or at least many of them are—the one unrestricted public space in which children are treated with something approaching full civic equality with all other people. And they sense that. Our children’s room is the liveliest space in our library. 📚
