I just saw a piece in @thebookseller.com about this fundraiser - to protect and share a collection of over one million Black books in the UK, a labour of love by one collector, Baba Pepukayi, but a vital resource for the nation. www.gofundme.com/f/save-1-mil... Please share, and donate if you can.

It rained a bit yesterday, and for over an hour last night, the first time since June. Right now we're in heavy wet cloud. I'd forgotten what it was like to walk barefoot on wet (brown) grass. Yesterday I also forgot that putting laundry out might mean that it gets wet. The smell of wet earth is 😀

It's all so wrong, wrong, wrong. I remember cheap 'publishing' companies in India doing this 20 years ago, pillaging the wrecked libraries of the Raj to locate and dismember books now extraordinarily rare in the West, then scan them and sell uncorrected POD versions at £20 each.

I don’t want to be too sensationalist about this but also I’m the least violent person in the world and I think if someone said this to my face I’d hit them

PLEASE SHARE THIS To the young person (longish dark hair, patterned waistcoat, chinos & DM boots) who left this scroll of papers on the Piccadilly Line train at South Kensington station at about 4.25pm today, I’ve handed it to the station staff at Hammersmith.

Today's fail: the pair of linen trousers I was sewing from a new funky pattern turned out to be completely the wrong size so all that cut-out fabric is wasted, sob. I used to sew wedding dresses! Why can't I sew properly any more? 🪡 Today's win: another pitch for a book review accepted.
