This might be one of the most insane scandals in game history When Pokemon Go players scan PokeStops, theyve been unknowingly building a detailed visual model of the world which is being sold to a military contractor to build a no-GPS positioning for the new generation of unmanned killing machines

You used to be able to google the time of the sunset, and Google would give you the exact time right on top every single time. Thankfully, with artificial intelligence, you can now ask Google what time the sun will set and it will conveniently tell you "I don't know."

The Marketplace of Ideas people immediately forcefully shut down all dissent, bought all media, sued & fired all critics & arrested & caged journalists reporting on their heinousness as soon as they got control & all of this was entirely predictable & people who warned of it were called overreactors

Kickstarter officially banning adult content now. Knew this was coming, but it still sucks to have yet another part of the internet that I've been explicitly evicted from. Digital gentrification is exhausting.

Screenshot of Kickstarter's new rules against mature content, in which everything pornographic is banned. It's a long document that's formatted in a way that I can't copy and paste all the text that's in it, but the first is that all point and anything sexual is now banned. This part of the document outlines how even self censoring your own work will not work, because even the implication of sex is too much. Even in prose works. This document is confusing because it says that erotic comics ARE allowed... you just can't show sex acts or genitals or try to arouse people. Also you can make sex toys, just so long as they're not for sexual gratification. This is how Kickstarter's email began:

"Hello,
Kickstarter has always been a home for bold, boundary-pushing creative work, including mature content projects like romance novels, nude art books, and provocative comics. Creators working in this space are a valued part of our community, and that hasn’t changed." And yet it definitely has changed.

Heyo! I'm Lyn, I'm an intersex Latina trans woman, and I'm very broke. I'm no longer about to be homeless, thanks to a gracious friend. But unfortunately, I'm still struggling to find a job, and I still really need money to stay afloat these upcoming months. Every dollar helps, thank you so much!!
