Went to register mum’s death today. Nearly stole the registrar’s pen lid by accident and as I went to leave, I stood up and got my handbag hooked under the desk so I was stuck bent over and had to shuffle-moonwalk away to free myself. I’m going to be one of her stories, aren’t I?
We finished emptying mum’s house this week and all I have to say is don’t save anything for best or have stuff for show. Use the good crockery every day, write in the nice notepads and live decadently. And no one needs a huge collection of crowbars unless they’re a burglar.
Upbuilding and constructive instead of tearing down and destructive. I like this much better. IG: @wainwrightbookbinding
This is the letter kids got at the end of Dolly’s Imagination Library. I defy you to read this and not cry.
There was a fire (again) not far from here last night and the wind carried the smoke so I had to shut my window. This in turn made my room hotter than the surface of the sun so I decamped to the sofa downstairs. Currently wedged behind the dog on the tiniest sliver of sofa while he oofs at foxes.
All seriousness aside, mum’s phone received a text from the hospital yesterday, thanking her for using them and asking her to fill out a survey on her experience there 🤣
My mum died this morning. Got the call from the hospital just after 4am to get there, but it was too late when we arrived 20 minutes later. I am so glad she passed with lovely people around her and was saved the indignity of going home today with a care package, as they’d intended.
Been a bit caught up lately as my mum decided to be dramatic a couple of weeks ago, had a fall and laid there for hours before my daughter found her. She’s still in hospital and is now well enough to be a belligerent moo and I can’t praise the NHS staff enough, I don’t know how they do it.
My tiny bedroom has the hot water tank in it and I’ve finally had to give up and come downstairs to sleep before I expire.
Whose idea was it to go out Thursday night and Friday night, work all day Saturday, work a big chunk of Sunday and then go out Sunday night but not book Monday off? Worra twat.
Forgot, while we were chatting yesterday, some American guy sat down next to us, interrupted our conversation and told us we were pronouncing garage incorrectly and that it should be “gararge”, so we laughed and ignored him and he left. What an odd thing to do.
People that stop directly at the bottom of escalators on the tube to say bye to each other. Why?
I’ve been in that there Hyde Park today, taking one for team friendship. Don’t tell but I actually really enjoyed myself.
@lisatea.bsky.social and @andyparmo.co.uk are you both being given the run around by your pets this morning? 😁
Saw an old friend yesterday and she bought me a very apt gift…..
Did a small bbq for some friends yesterday. The highlight wasn’t the scintillating chat, fantastic food and drink I laid on, it was the kid’s paddling pool that everyone sat their chairs round and put their feet in up to their knees while they chatted.
Half-way through changing my bedding at 5am and I’ve sweated so much I’d like to know why I haven’t gone down a dress size.
I forgot to tell you: my new (to me) car finally has aircon. And the manager of the dealership apologised to me, which I wasn’t after at all because all I wanted was cold air from the vents, but it was nice anyway 🙃
