Big time liker of trains and puppies. Co-Founder Seattle Subway, worker at Sound Transit, opinions are my own and mostly stupid.

The Yale slip lane is now permanently closed, with Boren handling all I-5 traffic! We had a great time meeting the SDOT crew and can't wait to see the improvements this will bring for the L8! We'll head back down later today to share some more photos after everything is fully installed.

I remember some nonsense from right wing transit boosters about the case for Trump during the 2016 cycle. It was a deeply unserious position even then. If there still are any "transit fans for Trump" types out there, I really have to question their grasp on reality.

Congress appropriated billions of dollars for new transit projects. Why is the Trump administration spending none of it? Why are even transit projects in red states going unfounded? New reporting in @nytimes.com (gift link): www.nytimes.com/2026/07/27/u...

New capital investment grants signed by administration

I'll summarize this: Mamdani asked NYers to keep air conditioning at 78 degrees. A wave criticism hit online. A MSNBC broadcast pointed out the US Department of Energy recommends that 78 degree figure. Immediately after, the US Department of Energy deleted 6,000 web pages related to energy saving.

Two ICE agents tracked down a woman *inside a polling place* yesterday. Why? They demanded that she take down an Instagram post in which she named Jonathan Ross as the man who shot & killed Renee Good (after the Star Tribune identified Ross). www.syracuse.com/news/2026/06...

Federal agents track down Syracuse woman, demand she remove Instagram post about ICE

She believes the warning was related to a post about the ICE agent who shot Renee Good in Minneapolis.

It appears the City of Puyallup is allowing signature gatherers to have a booth at publicly supported event. The repeal the (millionaire) income tax people have at least 3 official booths. Is this legal?

Weaponizing environmental concerns to prevent people from living in our urban environments isn’t new. It’s deployed by people with resources to restrict access to high opportunity areas. It’s nimbyism. In order to reach our housing goals, our land use processes must stop enabling this behavior.

'Orca Appeal': A science nerd's challenge to Seattle's building plan

As City Hall continues to roll out the biggest remaking in Seattle's history, one musician challenges the underlying science. It is the story of our time.

Hasn't even been a year and Zohran's governance is having a massive impact on my family. Our daycare was able to open a 15-seat 3K program because of the 2,000 extra seats the admin funded. Everyone we know got in somewhere they wanted. This is gonna save us almost 50 grand.

Why are gas prices so high in Washington? Gas taxes are high here, but only account for about $.25/Gallon added vs the national average. I am skeptical of climate legislation adding $.50/gallon but I'll use it anyways. So we add $.75/gallon total and get things like clean air and salmon.

Maps like this are trying to bully you. It is in the nature of county-level data to suppress the distinct characteristics of urban populations. Central Seattle is no less real because it doesn't have a county to itself.

It's come to my attention that I might be a bit unprepared. What champagne/fireworks combo best says "I wish you suffered more consequences when you were alive but I'm still entirely elated that you're dead?"

Cardinal Cupich: "We're dehumanizing the victims of war by turning the suffering of people & killing of children & our own soldiers into entertainment. To splice together movie cuts w/ actual bombings & targeting of people for purposes of entertainment is sickening. This is not who we are."
