The Yale slip lane is now permanently closed, with Boren handling all I-5 traffic! We had a great time meeting the SDOT crew and can't wait to see the improvements this will bring for the L8! We'll head back down later today to share some more photos after everything is fully installed.

Big time liker of trains and puppies. Co-Founder Seattle Subway, worker at Sound Transit, opinions are my own and mostly stupid.
I remember some nonsense from right wing transit boosters about the case for Trump during the 2016 cycle. It was a deeply unserious position even then. If there still are any "transit fans for Trump" types out there, I really have to question their grasp on reality.
Congress appropriated billions of dollars for new transit projects. Why is the Trump administration spending none of it? Why are even transit projects in red states going unfounded? New reporting in @nytimes.com (gift link): www.nytimes.com/2026/07/27/u...
1) This is at least 4x what if should be. 2). Still worth it.
So the MTA estimates the cost of a 4-mile subway extension down an extremely wide Brooklyn street at $16 BILLION DOLLARS!!! We are cooked. NYC may never build a new subway line ever again.
If you were cool with this, you can shove that "Happy Independence Day" up your ass.
I'll summarize this: Mamdani asked NYers to keep air conditioning at 78 degrees. A wave criticism hit online. A MSNBC broadcast pointed out the US Department of Energy recommends that 78 degree figure. Immediately after, the US Department of Energy deleted 6,000 web pages related to energy saving.
Dems should run on this. Law and order.
Johnson: If we lose the midterms, these Democrats will turn every committee of Congress into an investigative body, and they'll go after the president's family, the cabinet, his donors, friends, half of you in this room will be targeted. I run the protection program. We’ll take care of you.
Two ICE agents tracked down a woman *inside a polling place* yesterday. Why? They demanded that she take down an Instagram post in which she named Jonathan Ross as the man who shot & killed Renee Good (after the Star Tribune identified Ross). www.syracuse.com/news/2026/06...
Federal agents track down Syracuse woman, demand she remove Instagram post about ICE
She believes the warning was related to a post about the ICE agent who shot Renee Good in Minneapolis.

It appears the City of Puyallup is allowing signature gatherers to have a booth at publicly supported event. The repeal the (millionaire) income tax people have at least 3 official booths. Is this legal?
Does anyone have an ST estimate for LQA to Ballard and/or CID to West Seattle?
Weaponizing environmental concerns to prevent people from living in our urban environments isn’t new. It’s deployed by people with resources to restrict access to high opportunity areas. It’s nimbyism. In order to reach our housing goals, our land use processes must stop enabling this behavior.
'Orca Appeal': A science nerd's challenge to Seattle's building plan
As City Hall continues to roll out the biggest remaking in Seattle's history, one musician challenges the underlying science. It is the story of our time.

Another reminder: if there exists *any* class of people who don't have due process rights, then *nobody* actually has due process rights because the government can always just say you're in that class.
A US-born woman born was confronted by sheriff deputies in Louisiana who were convinced her ID and social security card were fakes. They turned her over to ICE, who shackled her & took her an hour away. Even after a lawyer convinced ICE of the woman's citizenship the sheriff says they did no wrong
Hasn't even been a year and Zohran's governance is having a massive impact on my family. Our daycare was able to open a 15-seat 3K program because of the 2,000 extra seats the admin funded. Everyone we know got in somewhere they wanted. This is gonna save us almost 50 grand.
Why are <insert a blue leaning institution or pol> still posting on X? Their unwillingness to leave was the real sign it was time for me to pursue other interests and pay attention to other things to the extent it was possible for me.
It's hard to avoid the conclusion that Bluesky has been a net negative for US politics. They corralled everyone on the left into a little glass fishbowl where they shout at one another & everyone else ignores them. Meanwhile, all the pols & institutions stayed on X & are being dragged farther right.
Liberal Pols: You should just act like Trump all the time but, you know, be doing it in pursuit of good things.
TRUMP: We have a ballroom that's under budget. It's going up right here. I've doubled the size of it because we obviously need that. REPORTER: The price doubled TRUMP: I doubled the size of it, you dumb person. You are not a smart person.
It's honestly unreal that a professional politician in the year 2026, who is not intentionally trying to be evil, can be this clueless about housing.
“housing is a human right but the problem is developers who build housing” is simply not a coherent message Especially when you consider the fact that Seattle has actually done a decent job at building housing and is relatively affordable as a result compared to other high demand cities
No! The voters already had their say! They voted for new maps! Spanberger can kiss her presidential ambitions goodbye if she doesn’t fight this
Spanberger: I am disappointed by the Supreme Court of Virginia’s ruling, but my focus as Governor will be on ensuring that all voters have the information necessary to make their voices heard this November in the midterm elections because in those elections we — the voters — will have the final say.
I'm not saying "let's start a war" but I am saying "this is how wars start." Republicans already target blue states when they have power. Democrats would be foolish to not reply in kind at this point. Then what?
Alabama’s lieutenant governor, who also serves as president of the state Senate, posted a 7-0 Republican gerrymander calling for his party to eliminate both Black Democrats. Every seat on a map like this would be dark red and heavily white
Why are gas prices so high in Washington? Gas taxes are high here, but only account for about $.25/Gallon added vs the national average. I am skeptical of climate legislation adding $.50/gallon but I'll use it anyways. So we add $.75/gallon total and get things like clean air and salmon.
Seriously, imaging getting denied by your insurance company and immediately finding a way to be mad at poor people about it. You can't think of anyone else who might hold some responsibility for US healthcare being shitty? Maybe some political group? Just spitballing here.
lol yeah girl, how did you think health insurance companies worked?
Maps like this are trying to bully you. It is in the nature of county-level data to suppress the distinct characteristics of urban populations. Central Seattle is no less real because it doesn't have a county to itself.
The most interesting thing about this is that Trump is in the Epstein files and stopping them from being released.
The suspect in the shooting at the White House correspondents’ dinner is a 31-year-old from Torrance, California, two law enforcement officials said. It appeared that no guests were struck by gunfire. President Trump said a Secret Service agent was shot but saved by his bulletproof vest.
It's come to my attention that I might be a bit unprepared. What champagne/fireworks combo best says "I wish you suffered more consequences when you were alive but I'm still entirely elated that you're dead?"
I was already for it, you don't have to sell me, Bannon.
As Virginia’s redistricting referendum comes down to the wire, Steve Bannon is warning that “demonic” Democrats will impeach President Donald Trump and gerrymander congressional districts nationwide if they win in the Old Dominion Tuesday. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...
Huge turnout of 250+ people at a rally and march to demand Sound Transit build light rail to Ballard as promised in the voter-approved ST3 ballot measure.
Cardinal Cupich: "We're dehumanizing the victims of war by turning the suffering of people & killing of children & our own soldiers into entertainment. To splice together movie cuts w/ actual bombings & targeting of people for purposes of entertainment is sickening. This is not who we are."
