Seattle Bike Dad 🚲 👨👧@seattlebikedad.bsky.social · 2w agoA large part of Wallingford and the U-District is now an extension of I-5 ramps: completely gridlocked with no good alternative to move people, as buses are also stuck in the traffic, and the lack of bike lanes makes it difficult to efficiently and safely ride along these streets (video speed 4x)
I just realized this why the Wallingford farmers market is such a vibe! You can throw a blanket down and chill with snacks!

Ideally, with a play area surrounded by restaurants/ cafes with outdoor seating. In the plaza you could have low effort activations like music, games, and fitness classes. Oh, and trees! 🌳

We need to stop using “equity” as an excuse to not make policy changes that would materially benefit many people in Seattle. Sometimes we don’t know who is struggling or which kids need free meals. Life changes quickly and food insecurity is rampant right now. Feed children lunch.
It’s not only that @thestranger.com has enshittified their endorsements, it’s also that @theurbanist.org has in ~ the last year or more substantially upped its reporting game as well as produced robust analysis with its endorsements.

Madeleine Bonsma-Fisher, PhD@mbonsma.bsky.social · 3w agoI don't think all driving is bad, and transport justice might even dictate that some people should be able to drive *more*, but the actual problem we have is a privileged slice who drive way too much. Any kind of blanket policy like cheaper parking or lower gas prices is ultimately regressive.
