i saw @davidebybc.bsky.social recently visit heritage park museum in terrace and speak with the curator, a former student of mine. perhaps @annekangburnaby.bsky.social should do a BC-wide consultation with historians, curators & archivists working "on the ground"-- voices outside the heritage branch

Former operator not surprised by closure of Victoria's Point Ellice House
The province says it is taking over the site, whose doors will close to the public on Aug. 21, and “reviewing options for reopening.”

“The ministry said it has provided more than $55M in funding to preserve and protect heritage assets across the province since 2020.” That is… a shockingly low amount of money? Taxpayers now fully fund the Port Mann bridge, which would have collected nearly $1 billion in tolls during that period.

Brookfield is doing well! I cant remember, who was the head of their board before Carney became PM?
Absolutely insane footage of rock avalanches currently sweeping across the entire south face of the Matterhorn, as filmed from Cervinia! 🔥😱 📽️ Via @meteovalledosta
Here's the thing: I saw this coming and said as much when I had to close up this museum in 2023. The province has no plan for its heritage sites and is making them irrelevant. I'm doing media now as I want that to be known, but I already grieved this loss: www.kellyblack.ca/stories/2024... #yyj

4/ How many wildfires, heatwaves, droughts, burnt down communities, ruined livelihoods, and lost lives will it take for PM Carney to stop his reckless pursuit of expanded fossil fuel production?

It's hard to overstate how ISOLATING and scary it was with a child under 5 waiting for that under 5 vaccine. The world was kind of moving on and you not only couldn't, you had to be scared for your child every day
Also the Republicans were screaming that Fauci helped authorize vaccines for children, which is something every goddamn parent I know was praying for every day for more than a year and have been thankful for ever since. These people are all self-centered idiotic sociopaths, nothing more.

What I hate about COVID downplayers is… you won okay. In the aftermath of humanity coming together to develop the most crucial vaccines of our lifetime & collectively sacrificing to save lives, we are now less safe, less vaccinated & less empathetic than ever. You won ok. Lay down your swords.
Hello I have made this due to a mutual having issues with some folks on here forgetting this fact and shouting at him for it. Feel free to use it as a handy PSA x
During COVID, medical workers filled latex gloves with warm water so the dying could feel like their hands were being held by another person as they died alone in hospitals pushed to the brink of collapse. People who downplay the horrors of the pandemic to focus on its inconveniences are fools.
There are working class and vulnerable kids who will never have the life they should have had because of school closures. Let’s address that too, shall we?
