Re: last repost, it’s the “why should I bother to read something no one wanted to bother to write?” principle. An LLM might come up with words, but they won’t be your words, and they’re meaningless as a form of expression. There’s no intention behind it, just assembling data.

A reminder that Lynne is an awesome editor, recently impacted by the Paizo layoffs, and could use some help in these trying times!

I think another lesson to take from the loss of both Dolly and Tim Curry is that neither of them took themselves seriously but they took the work dead serious that's the most important thing pour all of yourself into the craft but have fun and don't get an ego.

First Dolly Parton and now Tim Curry?? C’MON. 😭

Hey TTRPG fam. Our friend @lynnemeyer.bsky.social, who is a laid-off former Paizo editor, is having a rough one. Storms knocked out power in her town and the current estimate to get power back is by next Tuesday. She lost everything in her fridge and needs help with food. Please share/donate!

YES. Knowing a lot of folks who know a lot of different and weird things is great (and having friends in general is cool). And even when your friend doesn't know the answer to your specific question, they probably know someone who does ("Let's ask Camaro Bob, he's got, like, 12 Camaros")

said it before and i'll say it again: the number one writing hack is just to make friends. you can either spend an hour in an obscure & contentious reddit forum trying to figure out what a 2012 camaro sounds like or you can ask your buddy, the Car Guy

Good news! Starfinder Alien Core, which I worked on as developer and an author alongside many other amazing people, was nominated for an ENNIE Award! Voting opens *tomorrow* (7/10-19). If you get a chance, please show my fellow devs, authors, artists, and editors some love with a vote? Thank you!

The thing about social media age restrictions is that it treats today’s internet as an inevitability we all just have to deal with. The internet (and the WORLD) wasn’t like this until like four dudes were allowed to own & monetize as much tech real estate as they wanted. Fix THAT problem.

Paizo’s the first place I’ve known where I can truthfully say that coworkers became friends. They’re great at what they do, and they’re great people. Ivis, Shay, and so many more talented, wonderful folks—a dozen of us!—are on the job market again. We’d love to make games magic happen with you.

I have also worked with Ivis, so I can confirm that she is great and that you should hire her. And @lynnemeyer.bsky.social, and @spellsinsugar.bsky.social, and @sketching101.bsky.social, and all the others. Hire 'em all.

Obviously this is a terrible idea but also I think we need an immediate moratorium on LLMs using bi flag colors as they are not worthy of the aesthetic

I'm still working on my portfolio and such - but, if you don't have work to offer and still want to support me and the fuzzy one, you can always buy me a coffee on my ko.fi (ko-fi.com/northerndrea...) and I promise Auryn pictures in exchange.

Time to kick the elephant out of the room: Yes, I'm one of the people Paizo's laying off, my last day being July 7th. My heart is broken to leave the best team I've ever worked with - a team I've learned so much from. If you know of any game designer or developer openings, I'd love to talk to you.

Unfortunately, I've been laid off as part of Paizo's recent restructuring (paizo.com/blog/paizo-r...). I'm reopening my public commissions while I look for what's next; if you've been looking for an excuse to get your TTRPG character illustrated, please reach out!

If you're looking for ways to support the Paizo employees affected by yesterday's layoffs, this is probably a good place to start. www.reddit.com/r/Pathfinder...

Paizo announces 12 layoffs as a direct effect of Diamond Comics' bankruptcy disrupting business. United Paizo Workers is collaborating with management on severance, other rights for affected staff. www.rascal.news/paizo-lays-o...

@paizo.com will be laying off 12 people. They appear to be properly working with @unitedpaizoworkers.bsky.social while doing so. This can be laid directly at the feet of the Diamond Comics fiasco. Layoffs suck for EVERYONE at the company. Please give them some grace. paizo.com/blog/paizo-r...

I was laid off as a part of this restructuring. I loved working on Starfinder during my time at Paizo, with all of my amazing colleagues, who then became cherished friends. I hope folks enjoy my work in Tech Core, especially the Tactical Starship Combat rules. paizo.com/blog/paizo-r...
