This kind of thing at Substack (including their Nazi problem and trans hate problem) are why my newsletter is at Ghost.org and always has been. Andrew Tate is a spectacularly vile human being accused of numerous violent crimes against women and hugely corrosive for young male minds.

Hey, look at Substack promoting Andrew Tate as the #1 new bestseller. The company's amoral leadership & backers will platform anyone, even ludicrously toxic rapists & human traffickers.

a screenshot of the "New Bestsellers" list from Substack, with Andrew Tate in the #1 position

I did a tonne of research so you don't have to. I talk about masking, air filtration, and air quality rating systems, & I give concrete suggestions to help you keep yourself and your loved ones safe. If you don't have this information yet, it's time to get educated. Wildfires don't respect borders.

For folks struggling to figure out how to deal with wildfire smoke, I put together some information a few years ago: apihtawikosisan.com/2023/09/miti...

Oh my god, this is so 🎯. When you create something using AI, you're not creating it; the software is. And the software is only able to do that because massive amounts of human-created content was stolen and fed into it. So you are stealing from strangers. It's embarrassing. Stop.

the best way to describe what tools like Suno are doing is they apply CEO logic to all art & cultural production - exploit others' labor on mass scale - replace actual creative processes w/ a series of vague executive directives (prompts) - extract all value/take credit for labor you didn't perform

ICE has fatally shot 11 people since Donald Trump's second term began. These are not isolated incidents. They are the predictable result of a cruel, violent system. Abolish ICE.

Elizabeth says no, and Collins is like, “Aha! I have heard it is customary for ladies to play hard to get at first when they actually mean to accept a proposal. Very good, very good! How customary! For lady! A lady-custom! A custom of lady that actually ultimately means a yes for me!”

I’m so MAD. I have to collect myself!!! Out of nowhere, the cranky asshole does a drive-by pluck on my heart strings, and I just have to sit here with a melody in my heart??? Fuck you, Jane Austen, you talented demon.

It was inevitable, wasn't it🙄 Of course the Telegraph would run with something like this👇 So let's remove some of the rose-tinted spectacles and also look at some of that data comparing 1976 with modern heat waves Because the 1976 nostalgia porn is wearing a bit thin at this stage 🧵1/23

Telegraph headiline:

"Heatwave hysterics wouldn't have lasted a day in 1976", overlaid with a bold “MONK DEBUNKED” stamp.

it's truly craven for establishment Dems to spend the weeks after the election wishing they had populist machinery like a Joe Rogan Of The Left or whatever, and then to turn around and get mad the second the populist machinery they've been ignorning starts delivering wins.

Here's the Timberland Library board page, with meeting times and agendas. trl.org/board/ If you don't like this shit, show up at a meeting (virtual or otherwise) and tell them so. If you really don't like this shit there are vacant board positions for Thurston and Mason counties.

This was anonymously leaked by several Timberland Regional Library employees. Includes: Grays Harbor, Lewis, Mason, Pacific, and Thurston Counties.

Desired outcomes:
• No sexuality for kids. Materials about sex, sexual & gender orientation moved from children & youth sections to adult section.
• No sexuality in children's activities.
• Make libraries places of unity, not division.
A neutral place that taxpayers can be proud to support, that parents can be excited to visit.
• Make libraries safe places of respite, not hotbeds of activism. Nonpartisan and neutral. Earn back people's trust.
• Open and geared toward safety for families, not activists and homeless.
• No rainbow and activist displays. Monthly celebrations aren't uniting, they are dividing. Be beige, not rainbow.
• No dividing kids from parents, no suggesting they hide things from them.
• Libraries aren't places to teach about sexuality and librarians aren't therapists.
• Just get back to being a library. You're alienating people. They're saying no.

I see this possibly starting to break containment, so I also want to add one point - if you can't include or grapple with the experiences of people in a (semi-)historical setting, please consider that it might not be your story to tell. And that's fine!

So, the other thing that has been burning a hole in my head lately: Pirate Borg drives me crazy. I hate that it uses the Carribean (sorry "the Dark Carribean, ughhh"), without really talking about the indigenous ppl (all gone when we got there!) or chatel slavery, both of which are important.

The best time to hire a SC is at the beginning, or even the planning stage. We can also help in the middle of things, but def don't bring us in at the end if you're not committed to making massive changes if needed 3/
