There are two wolves. One always lies. One controls the lever of trolley track. They're in a state of superposition inside a box. On the trolley are infinite monkeys at infinite typewriters going to an infinite hotel. The trolley must first travel halfway, but before that a quarterway, and so on...
Is it too cynical of me to think that this will just be used to train models to write less AI-slop sounding texts...?
AI slop has gotten so bad on Linkedin that they’ve added a ‘Seems like AI slop’ button
So odd: this post Is visible on the author’s timeline through @mu.social but not in the @blackskyweb.xyz app. Am I missing something? Isn’t the timeline on an author’s profile always the same and full list of posts?
EU GDP flash estimates are in today—In total, the EU grew 1.2% over last year, the Eurozone 1% Fastest: Lithuania (3.8%), Sweden (2.8%), Spain (2.7%), Portugal (2.5%), and Finland (2.2%) Slowest: Ireland (-5.6%), Belgium (.5%), France (.7%), Austria (.8%), and Germany (.9%)
Good points in this article. For me it gets to the core of what is ‘social’ about social media. It’s about interaction, not reach.
My contribution to the "Should writers switch to the Atmosphere even though Substack is bigger?" discourse.

Publish your restaurant's menu once, as structured data you own. Plates gives it a beautiful page, and the open network carries it everywhere else.

Am sending this from the @blackskyweb.xyz ios app. Seems to work, no? App looks good. Still not very clear on how Blacksky is different from Bluesky contentwise (i feel like such a novice saying stuff like that 😉).
Something something about geopolitical soft power and pop music
BTS announces they will not submit their music for the 2027 GRAMMY awards, following the Recording Academy’s addition of an Asian-focused category: “I hope music itself can be heard and loved rather than being distinguished by region or language.”
I'm convinced that there is a huge Atmosphere-sized hole in the personal website market, and here's why that matters👇

The right questions to arrive with—and the right structure for what comes out of the interviews—are not completely obvious. So I’ve been spending some time thinking about clouds.

Any good podcasts about Berlin? Prepping for a trip. Can be in English oder -Warum auch nicht- auf Deutsch.
The scale thing really hit me when I tried out the excellent @beaconbits.app when on a trip in Paris. Am I really the only person to have used that app in the whole of Paris? Or am I missing something?
I agree. Even when filtering it feels like 80% US content and 19% about Europe. Might this be a scale thing? Like most AT protocol stuff it feels like the infrastructure is there, but there's hardly anybody on it (yet).

Here's a sentence that stopped me in my tracks last week: "The statement that 'the cemeteries are full of indispensable people' is just as true of nations, and in particular the US": crookedtimber.org/2026/07/16/5... 1/
"If you really want an "AI strategy" for your country, it should be this: wait for the bubble to burst, then buy hardware and talent at fire-sale prices in the wave of ensuing bankruptcies, and use them to extract more performance from free, open source models."

If this is happening in public, you've got to wonder what's happening behind the scenes. Any three-letter agencies involved? What are they up to these days? Perhaps some light election-interference? Interesting times
The State Department has just put out a tender, offering funding of up to $3 million to European organizations who want to fight against "Supra-national institutions" - presumably the EU - and governments who seek to regulate the internet and end Western Civilization. www.state.gov/drl-nofo-dev...
