Much of my career boils down to: All code is liability. Minimize it. Feedback loops are everywhere. Speed them up; do them more. We're bad at predicting the future. Avoid it. More tests. Hire smart, motivated people, then get out of their way. Find the right thing to turn off and on again.

the belief that change can make things better is the "progress" part of "progressive", while "conserving the past" and resisting change is where "conservative" comes from. a lot of so called leftists these days are actually conservative

I watched a German romcom "I'm your man", with an AI boyfriend, and you know what, it's kinda funny! We moved from MS Teams to Google (coz OneDrive was unusable), and gosh Gemini inside Chats is such a joke! I asked if it can create Calendar entries, it said yes. I asked it to create one as a test, it said that it can't. It has Haiku 3.5 level of self-awareness, except that Haiku had a soul

My computer just woke me up to tell me it's hungry. I'm not kidding 😂 During a long-running task, it noticed the battery was draining, set the volume to 100% using Computer Use, then opened Google Translate and hit "Listen" so I could hear it asking. Pardon my French, but what the fuck? 🤯

My secret, Cap, is that I'm *always* angry about old books. For instance, here's a tiny slice of the millions of books 1931-1986 that have no commercial value, that are digitized, but that we're unable to use in large-scale research because they are illegal to share or display.

I wrote a good document, made Fable retell it "like you would to an agent of yours", then cut it into bad (fable) good (me) pairs with manual explanations of why Fable's versions are bad. Turned it into a skill, asked Sonette (the most sane one in the family) to apply it. It didn't work :(

Stripped a codebase of the claudeisms in the code comments and then sol was immediately able to detect the problems in the code when it didnt see them before.

Very much this thread. I'm sure there are good stable long-term scenarios for AI and us. But the path to them feels so risky. If your life depends on a complex function of parametrs (aka society), and all these params change exponentially, with offsets and wobbles, it's hard to keep things balanced
