This was a tough list, and Game of Thrones barely squeaked in based on the strength of the early seasons. TONS of stuff just barely missed the list: Community, Arrested Development (weak latter seasons), Shogun (only one season), Rome (weak ending), Colbert Report, Loki, White Lotus, etc.

My favourite take on this, just in sheer absurdity, is the 2018 Robin Hood where the entire first act is shot like an Iraq War movie, complete with Saracens ambushing English longbowmen with automatic crossbow emplacements and shoulder fired scatterbows. It's such a pristine parody of the genre.

Man, if we lose Square Enix, I'll really feel it. I love Final Fantasy in a way I simply do not love the vast majority of franchises out there, even if I don't always like every entry or related release. And that's not even thinking about Dragon Quest, SaGa, Mana, Nier, Star Ocean, Team Asano, etc.
