Yes and also I think *players* should hold responsibility too, not just their characters (or the GM)! Like in Band of Blades, for example, character responsibility feels much more real because you as the player are in charge of the mechanic related to that character's domain

Randomly I had this thought the other day like, that RPGs don’t often ask your characters to hold responsibility

Not only does this game generate textbook locked room murder mysteries without fail (that surprise even the players) it also has a movement mechanic where the detective bounces around the map screensaver-style, and that's just good game design. Support a great game from a local Pittsburgh designer!!

The Locked Room Murder Mystery Game is live on Kickstarter now. Make your own murder mysteries with this hybrid board game + ttrpg! www.kickstarter.com/projects/ada...

Why is Apocalypse World designed to bring different arenas of conflict materially into play? It comes from, and takes a counterposition to, a school of rpg design that treats conflict as materially unitary, all arenas of conflict as structurally analogous.

An elder lady at the zoo was telling us hyena facts and she casually dropped “they’re highly intelligent, even the male with the highest pack status is lower than the females” we both laughed then she said “the world would be a different place”

Games Not (Only) By Cis-Dudes 🧵 (list in progress I keep on my phone & pasting here) * Apocalypse World * For the queen * The quiet year * Yazeba’s bed and breakfast * Seven part pact * Kagematsu & A single man * Tales of the Fisherman’s Wife * Steal Away Jordan * A Mending * Field guide to memory
