Contempt is an offence under the Royal Commissions Act 1902. It's not enough to kindly ask people to not engage in racism when that racism is being egged on by the press. The Commissioner should refer those responsible to the AFP. www.abc.net.au/news/2026-08...

We have zero confidence that DEWR can safely or lawfully administer the TCF – it's not possible. Yet again DEWR acting in bad faith with no regard for the human cost of compulsory activities, and they aren't offering any meaningful compensation to people who had their payment cancelled unlawfully.

This (from the @wsj.com Editorial Board) distills every denialist trope there is: It implies climate change isn’t exacerbating extreme weather. It calls solutions “costly … nostrums.” It fosters doomerism. And it suggests we can just adapt to or “manage” climate impacts. How is this journalism?

Blaming climate change is the default explanation these days for any natural disaster, but Europe's costly solutions will make little difference to global temperatures. Better forest management and fire prevention can make a difference, however. And they would reduce the CO2 emissions from fires that now overwhelm much of the reduction from electric vehicles or other climate nostrums.
