So, you know all about being granted wishes, in maliciously compliant ways that in theory may not be to your liking? Our updated book is full of poorly-worded wishes that get you transformed into one of many creatures -- which is secretly what you wanted all along~ ✨ #tf

TIL that the original pokemon opening got partially reused in a later season, with ~half the lines cut. Just something to keep in mind when doing spontaneous group karaoke, i guess -- not everyone might be thinking of the same version! this might explain some past occasions...
i built an entire x86 CPU emulator in CSS (no javascript) you can write programs in C, compile them to x86 machine code with GCC, and run them inside CSS lyra.horse/x86css/
The smart thing to do would be to compile the linux kernel on my fast machine(s), then transfer it to the slow machine. Or distcc. Or something. Instead, I'm running 3 builds in parallel on the slow machine, and just letting it go overnight. *shrug*
It's always fun how I seem to jump between "coasting, not doing much of anything" to "being somewhat productive in 3 different (new) areas at once." And yet the backlog of "things that should be worked on" remains untouched. *sigh*
this spec was hell to get through the w3c committee but at least the hacker news comments on chrome integration were mostly just “meow” As always, firefox still refuses to implement
didn't think the website would actually do that...
autistic people wont be happy until you give them digitigrade legs
Wonder what it says about me that my windows partition got wildly corrupted and there was only one file that I have concern over. Like, I'm absolutely going to lose stuff. photorec can pull things out, but it largely seems not worth sorting through a grab bag of random files.
The only legitimate software development methodology: 1. Think very hard about an implementation 2. Don't do anything

I'm preparing to publish the next installment of AI Killed My Job. This time, the focus will be on translators. If you or someone you know has had a translation job (including translator, interpreter, game localizer, etc) impacted by AI, and you'd like to share, please do: AIkilledmyjob@pm.me
AI is being used to justify firing workers at major tech companies, leaving those that remain to pick up the pieces. AI code is being shoveled into crucial Google products, replacing trainers at TikTok, and worse. This, in tech workers' own words, is how AI is killing jobs in Silicon Valley.
545, that's how many we had at our load test today; there's still lots more to do. Basis is a VR game and social framework. Everything is open source; check it out at basisvr.org
Current chain of yaks i'm trying not to shave: I need to upgrade my phone from LineageOS 20 to 21, I should do a backup first. Oh, Seedvault supports WebDAV? Maybe I can throw the backup on my raspberry pi. The package is *how old*? Debian is the worst, why did I go with raspbian?
Had a "it was dns" moment after moving one of my domains to another registrar. Turns out, I never told the new registrar to start using its own nameservers, so it was still pointing everyone to the old registrar's nameservers. (oops)
Live streaming @vrcdn.live over an ffmpeg video player was pretty awesome! So everyone that complained about instance sizes in VR being too small for events are going to join the CCU load test next weekend, right? 👀
We did a little DJ event during our normal test time. Next week, we are doing an official load test, and we need people to help break our previous record of 218! Please join us! discord.gg/v6ve6WT562 basisvr.org

I found out that I had a boba place within walking distance a few weeks ago. Their drinks come in glass jars with cute designs on them, and they had a reuse program where they would refill your jar and give you a discount if you did. So today, when we were ordering out, I suggested the place.
I'm really curious how well @vrchat.com runs on the @frame.work Desktop. The AMD APU won't be as powerful as a recent NVIDIA card but all that unified memory will certainly help.
Isn't it fun when you return to a space, go "oh cool they're finally implementing <concept>" only to realize that you apparently never actually talked about that concept in that particular space? (Oops.) At least you get to nerd about the new implementation of the concept now.
