Worth noting, as Macklemore was banned by NFL owners in what will be dubbed "fighting antisemitism", that Kanye, who - sold merch with swastikas - said on Alex Jones that he idolizes Hitler - tweeted he was "going Defcon 3 on Jewish people" is currently on a multi-city tour of NFL stadiums
New: Macklemore says Robert Kraft — who owns Gillette Stadium, where Macklemore & Ed Sheeran were to perform later this month — called Sheeran. Kraft rallied other owners together behind an ultimatum for Sheeran: if Macklemore stays on the tour, you won't be allowed in our venues.
If the band looks like this you’re going to get wrecked in the mosh pit
If you've spent your whole life going hiking, driving a Prius and having a beautiful garden in the 'burbs, it's horrifying to think that the guy who takes the train and lives in a steel tower is doing a better job of saving the planet than you.

Peter Yarrow plays a show at my middle school and during “This Land is Your Land,” everyone starts clapping on the 1&3. As a smartass 6th grader I start clapping really loudly on 2&4 and eventually get the room to switch. Yarrow looks out at the crowd like “WTF is going on out there?”
it's always "list some bands you've seen" but then you never hear anything memorable about the experiences
I saw So Percussion, Nexus, and Steve Reich play all of Drumming together at the outdoor venue where John Cage premiered 4’33”. It was really hot and humid, so the bongos got really out of tune. Before the last section, Russell Hartenberger is trying to retune while Reich screams “LOWER” at him

Basically any time Brian Blade smashes his far-right cymbal (Joshua Redman, Ron Miles, Fellowship Band). Especially good when it’s just after the downbeat.

Wilco in Central Park during The Whole Love tour. It was awful early fall days where it just rains and rains, but it was just misting at concert time. Then come out and start with “One Sunday Morning” and it’s the quietest a rock concert has ever been. Magical.

In 1990, the town had 2 schools (K-6, 7-12) and a graduating class of 75. In 2008, there were 5 schools and a graduating class of 415. I gotta say, recent growth only seems booming if you’re a NIMBY.
"BOOMTOWN! Everyone is Moving to Montgomery", says "The Montgomery News". Is this for real? Are YOU moving to Montgomery Twp, NJ? I personally am not!
The first Cassandra Wilson I heard was her version of Strange Fruit in my high school sophomore English class. There’s so much more beyond that, but it’s as good a place to start as any. youtu.be/paawBHlDa4w?...

As the academic year kicks off, I want to highlight an important issue that many folks, including some of my colleagues, are not aware of: the new earnings test imposed by the U.S. Department of Education as part of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

This is wild. In late 2025, federal and state officials kept a Mexican woman in custody for almost a month by repeatedly rebooking her just before her 72-hour time limit ran out. www.propublica.org/article/immi...
If this was about electoral advantage — the thing reactionary centrists claim as their expertise — they would be writing about how this entire issue is a distraction. If you are concerned about the influence of fringe radicals over policymaking, Republicans are the bigger threat. Of course they are.
NY Botanical Garden really missed an opportunity here. They should have called it “Summer is a-Moomin In”
My uncle who spent the first 23 years of his life in Bayonne and the last 50 in Davenport is in a bit of a bind here
Top 4 this year gonna be Arsenal, Brentford, Everton, and Leeds, innit?
hot subway take, I think we should rename all the classical pieces whose names are just throwaway metadata. Symphony For Piano In Q-Minor Third Movement? No, now it's called Stompin' With Jimmy and we can all remember which one it is
When I bought my first car in 2014, there were so many hatchback models to choose from. When I bought my next one in 2023, there were literally 4.
We need to bring back the hatchback. The people don't want sedans. They don't want stationwagons. They don't want SUVs and crossovers. They want indestructible sporty little hatchbacks with carrying capacity that feels like a bag of holding.
