My god. This is moral vacuum behavior: treating being a parent as a recreational activity. Honestly, having been through it three times over, the “low-joy tasks” are what build trust. Want your kid to know you’re there for them? Be there & be reliable for the hard, unfun, dirty parts.

one of my unpopular (to americans) opinions is that primaries are a pretty flawed way of choosing candidates and only superficially have more democratic legitimacy than “smoke-filled rooms”

Candidates are not more legitimate just because they were selected via a primary. Parties regularly select candidates and then voters, in an election, tell the party if they liked them or not.

1) Gentrification is bad 2) Even if it *were* good, people don't like it and so you have a problem in a Democracy if you don't have a plan to address it 3) NIMBY anti-developer policies demanded by anti-gentrification activists usually accelerates the pace of gentrification rather than arrests it

I am sorry the Democratic party is a clown car of every single group that opposes the American Nazi party for whatever reason. I agree this is awkward and uncomfortable. We should try to do something about this. But in the meantime this is the vehicle we have.
