Hey, so based on what other people have said, and what I have now myself experienced, it appears to me that publishers are, um, how do I say this... Not doing a good job (or possibly any job) of checking to see if rights have reverted on a work before claiming them in the settlement.

"I am vocally in favor of something that is deeply unpopular among most of the people I need to vote for me" well you're probably going to lose your primary, idk what to tell you

I know we are all currently very tired of the Hugo Awards--they just happened, we don't want to plan for next year--but time is a linear thing, and it keeps moving forward. With this in mind, please consider TOMBQUEST, by Starkid Productions, for your 2027 ballot.

I understand that in the very recent past being pro-Israel was popular among much of the Dem electorate but that is demonstrably no longer the case and I see no path for it ever being popular with the base again given the state of Israeli politics these folks are gonna have to deal with that

I mean, yeah. That did happen. It should tell you something about Israel and your support for it though and not the Democratic Party lol.

In Philadelphia, lawyers appointed to represent people challenging their convictions can file a “no-merit” letter against their client. One lawyer has done so more than 100 times. “I knew he wasn’t going to fight for me,” a former client said. (Published May with @inquirer.com)

is this a good time to remind everyone that SUPREME COURTS are a very important aspect of what'll be on the ballot in November? and i wrote a guide this spring to each and every state supreme court race happening in 2026—don't miss exploring it and using it as a resource

Your State-by-State Guide to the 2026 Supreme Court Elections - Bolts

Abortion, redistricting, and ballot access remain heated issues as voters face dozens of supreme court races across 32 states this year.

It really says something about how much people fucking HATE Trump and ICE when I can walk past a midday random anti-ICE protest comprised of six white Boomers in my VERY conflict avoidant city. Even the “don’t make people uncomfortable with politics” west Michigan boomers are done with this shit.

last Thursday was the first time in over 15 years that American prisons executed 3 people on the same day i did a lil digging and was confused at first to find that executions are at a modern high, even tho public support for the death penalty is at a modern low ballsandstrikes.org/law-politics...

How Republican Politicians and Conservative Judges Work Together to Preserve Capital Punishment

Public opposition to capital punishment is growing. But more people are being executed.

This shit is why you can't separate continuing to financially support the Harry Potter IP (whether by buying the games, merch, watching the new TV show when its out) from the consequences of what JK Rowling does with that money She's become so stiflingly powerful that even private docs arent safe

I've never seen such an effort to censor a document as I have the Amnesty International report on gender critical groups because of JK Rowling. They removed the report from the Wayback Machine and now I got a DMCA strike on my Google Drive for having it. It was deleted and removed from my account.

A screenshot of an email viewed in dark mode with the subject line "Google DMCA Violation." The email from Google informs the recipient that they have received a notification under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) that some of their materials allegedly infringe on copyrights. It explains the removal process, mentions that notice details will be posted on Lumen, warns against repeated violations, and lists one affected Google Drive URL at the bottom
