The site they used claims it works in a closed system and doesn't feed the ms to any other system or training. Let's assume that's true. 1/6

reading the bookforum review of Middlemen and I expect that the scholarly publishing equivalent of the agent is the freelance developmental editor. if conglomeration drove the rise of the agent, austerity drove the rise of the latter—the editor who actually edits, helps w/ the proposal, etc.
They could have asked any contractor who had worked for Trump in the 80s what it’s like to enter an agreement with him. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that all this fascism is happening just as the WWII generation is nearly gone. It’s not that we have too many old people. We don’t have enough.
