I think the Optimus Prime: Awakening short film has been done a pretty egregious disservice by marketing that primed people to expect "TFTM epilogue short film", a thing which it is not and is not trying to be, rather than "episode 0 of a larger future story", which is what it clearly actually is.

I finished Ghost in the Shell (2026) last night and man, what a show! Visually stunning, and probably the best adaptation of the manga we could have hoped for Maybe a bit too soon to say if this is my favourite incarnation of Motoko but Suzie Yeung brought this version to LIFE
there's also a specific demographic of like, mostly white male creatives who think they're both doing a service to the world and are better than everyone else because they liked akira and cowboy bebop but hate most other anime
funnily enough these people who complain about Whedon dialogue are the same people who are the same ones who want everything to be cater to them where they want it to be this super dark and super edgy thing and no fun allowed because that's silly and silly bad.
