Denmark. Brexit as seen from the EU side of the channel.

You asked me why the EU puts different pressure on Poland than on Sweden. I gave an answer which I think comes close to the truth. You are giving a lot of personal opinions that I don't have much interest in. You don't like it. Good for you, I guess. It doesn't change anything.

Interesting conversation with a couple of MS diplomats at the weekend. First point to note is that behind the scenes there is pressure building on particularly Poland to stop what is being characterised as "unfair competition" and to join the euro. 1

The simple reason is that British Politicians hate us EU citizens in the UK. We are a constant reminder about the embarrassment of Brexit and they would like to get rid of this reminder rather sooner than later. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

EU citizens in UK get letters telling them post-Brexit residency rights were given ‘in error’

After years of building lives in UK, potentially thousands of EU citizens could be told they have no right to remain

I'm sorry, Molly. It sounds like you and your brother are very close. The new deal is the best that could be done for Gibralter and Spain, but it's natural you wish you could have kept your visiting privileges for Gibralter only. I do hope you will still be able to see a lot of your brother.

LOL the ones that know all this and are still making up crap that the EU will just accommodate poor little them because they’re special are probably earning well off the less enlightened 😹

In Serbia, our hopes we fix on BRICS to magically help us usher in the Serbian World expansionist project (formerly known as Greater Serbia), so we lie to ourselves that it's China and Russia, and not the EU, who are keeping us from starving.

⬆️The guy from the quoted post is yet another example of Serbian victimhood complex. Poor Serbs, victims of historical injustices and wicked Western plots, bombed out of the blue, for no reason other centuries old Western envy of our Awesomeness and hate of brotherhood with Russia.

Of course, but here we’re just preaching to the choir. I mean, I knew it the minute PL joined the EU and we got instant new documents (fab!) valid for 5 years, excellent. But I was already a permanent resident because I played by the rules. The arseholes moaning are either morons or crooks.

I think we need to repeat this. Loudly. The fact that no-one ever really checked on them is irrelevant. This applies to all EU citizens throughout the EU. If you want to stay longer, you should register.

They are local news sheets set up by expats making money out of expats . You find them all over expats Spain . Full of adverts for ‘builders’, cleaners , satellite /internet installers , window fitters … All English , working in & for the English who don’t speak Spanish .

I am in Spain. There is plenty of British cars here. Spanking new SUVs. But also some old bangers. Out of curiosity I checked a couple of those on www.check-mot.service.gov.uk: No tax. No insurance. One had last MOT in January 2023. Tell me again how "part time residents" respect the local law.

Some cannot even legalize their cars (which I guess they just keep there as a local runabouts, judging from the state of some of those). bsky.app/profile/oryn...

They didn't follow the rules pre-brexit, if they had then they would have registered themselves correctly and accrued rights under the withdrawal agreement (and pay taxes etc). Many Brits think FOM meant everyone just swanning about at whim.
