I’ll be reviewing PhD apps for the 27-28 AY! My lab studies questions related to how people (1) talk and think about (their own/experiences with) racism, (2) have difficult conversations, (3) socialize their children about racism and identity. Learn more here: www.sciplab.com

New Blog post: Which Data Repository Should you Use? In light of OSF closing down, I compare Zenodo, Dataverse, ResearchBox, PsychArchive, and local repositories on six important dimensions. If you want to know which to pick: It depends! daniellakens.blogspot.com/2026/08/whic...

Almost every letter of recommendation I write for students includes a section about how their liberal arts education makes them a stronger researcher, practitioner, etc. Excited to add this paper to reading lists for my dev psych classes to help students explore that idea for themselves!

💥 New paper: Children Need Structural Explanations for Social Inequalities, and Educators Who Can Provide Them I enjoyed the opportunity to yap about two of my favorite things: Structural explanation and liberal arts education! journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/...

We made an open repository of close relationships measures. Our goal is to catalogue all of the published self-report measures in relationship science. You can help us expand the database by suggesting measures you tend to use in your research, or by uploading your own measures! relascale.com

Have you noticed how we often describe people from disadvantaged backgrounds as “strivers” or “go-getters” (💪🏼) rather than naturally gifted (🧠)? This may sound benign, but our new KiDLAB research shows that it reveals a harmful, early-emerging stereotype. (1/5)

Project Implicit is one of the longest-running data collection projects in social psychology. In addition to IATs, Project Implicit has been collecting data on visitors’ attitudes, explicit bias, and stereotypes for almost thirty years. Now it is in danger. I will be donating; I hope you will too.

Project Implicit is a research nonprofit behind tools millions use to understand bias. Like many public science orgs, sustaining this work has become increasingly difficult. We are at risk of closing without additional support. Help protect this impt work by donating here: 4agc.com/donate/impli...

Just finished my last class of the semester🎉Reminded of how much I love teaching this academic writing class for grad students. We focus on improving our writing but also reducing anxiety and becoming a more consistent & productive writer Some of the students favorite writing tips/learnings below:

One thing the events of the last couple of days have made clear is that we cis professors, especially those of us with tenure, need to have some definite clarity about what, tangibly, we are willing to do when someone comes for our trans colleagues and especially our trans grad students who teach.

If you have tenured and would share your own tenure application materials, I would love to build this section out on our Resources webpage! Please email me for eternal gratitude and as always, credit on the site: l.gabard-durnam@northeastern.edu Please repost to help me reach folks to share!

I continue to believe sharing example materials is useful in academia, so in that spirit, my tenure statements and CV are now available on our Resources for Researchers website (bottom of the New PI page: www.plasticityinneurodevelopmentlab.com/resourcesfor...)
