Let’s not bury the lede here. The President of the United States thinks vaccines cause autism. We are going to pay dearly for this. But he doesn’t care. Your baby getting meningitis ain’t his problem. It’s your problem.

do think one of the big problems of the era is that a lot of mainstream politicians have forgotten that you just can't convince everyone; the point of successful electoral politics is to convince the people you can convince and to *defeat the rest*

all I have to add to this discourse is that some people really are just shitty, horrible people who will vote for and genuinely want shitty, horrible policies. it’s up to the rest of us to work as hard as we can to counteract them.

I know we get inured to stuff, but it is hard to fathom the cruelty here. At a time of tax cuts for the most powerful, they are trying to remove basic supports for the most vulnerable. The Trump administration's war on people with disabilities continues.

NEW: A rule change pushed by White House officials would slash benefits or end support for as many as 400,000 Supplemental Security Income recipients with Down syndrome, dementia and other disabilities whose parents or relatives receive SNAP benefits.

ACIP's new charter seems innocuous but focuses on vaccine adverse events. Sec Kennedy's anti-vax advocacy has always implied that CDC hides vaccine injuries but vaccines are studied extensively & are safe & effective. Instead of promoting vaccines, RFK, Jr is sowing doubt

I’m proud, and also sad, to be quoted in Science News about how the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (aka AHRQ) has been effectively disbanded, with no research funding being disbursed, while Congress continues to fund its (my!) work It hurts me, but more, it hurts patients

‘“It just disappeared,” Dr @noraverlaine.bsky.social says, with the $153,000 installment due in September 2025 never arriving with no notice from AHRQ.’ www.science.org/content/arti...

THIS. You may feel passionate about left toe cancer but if you restrict your donation to only that research & the only person in the country studying it doesn’t apply for our funding, your $ is just sitting there unused. PLEASE trust us to direct your $ most effectively.

When you donate to a non-profit designate it to “general funds.” Trust us. The actual staff will always know where it is needed more than the Board of Directors or you.
