@taniel.bsky.social curious your thoughts on split ticket voting this year? Current projections indicate likelihood in NH, ME, KS, among others between Gov/Senate plus VT broadly. KS Gov is already a Dem but lack of incumbency hurting there, but not in Senate? Seems like a potential big storyline.

a Sunday reminder for Washingtonians out there Washington is the only state where a MAJORITY of the state Supreme Court is on the ballot, all at once a very rare situation no party label on the ballot but candidates are still aligned with parties! important to learn: boltsmag.org/your-state-b...

Are any of these LSU players truly re-enrolled in their schools? Seems course registration would have already happened too…will be hard to play their first games if they have that many syllabi to catch up on reading!

In 1957, a T ride cost 20¢. Adjusted for inflation, that's $2.40, exactly what the T costs today (well, $2.41, but close). The Turnpike from 128 to New York cost $2.45. Adjusted for inflation, it would be equivalent to $29.64. Driving the length of the Pike costs $4.25 today.

One of the more gerrymandered bodies that people don't think about — New Hampshire's executive council. In 2022, Dems won a majority across the 5 districts but just one of the 5 seats.

If three NYers were shot up by strangers that got away it would be on CNN and NYT/WSJ above fold. If three subway riders died after being pushed on 🚇tracks by strangers it would be on CNN and NYT/WSJ above fold. Three NYers were killed by hit-run drivers and nary a peep?

More than 50,000 South Dakotans became eligible for Medicaid three years ago thanks to a ballot measure that passed with 56 percent of the vote. Now, state Republicans want to raise the threshold for these measures to 60 percent.

"Disrespectful for Voters": The Dakotas Weigh Raising the Bar for Direct Democracy - Bolts

The key difference IMO between flock and speed cameras is the former creates new channels for abuse of power whereas the latter automates a law enforcement task in a way that is more equitable. But I do worry that the importance of this distinction is lost on both sides.

This is REALLY important. “Over 50% of Americans say climate change is a serious threat; only 10% think their compatriots feel the same That perception gap on the issue is among the highest in the world, per a new Gallup poll.” They want you to think you’re alone. You’re not. #ClimateCrisis

In all the worlds of magic - Wicked, Harry Potter - the efficiency of the train and public transit is recognized. Sure, certain circumstances warrant flying, but not everyone has that ability and the community benefits of the train are made clear across numerous relationships.
