Thank you to all who stopped by my #poster at #JointMeeting discussing #QI #QualityImprovement work @vumedicine.bsky.social with the #ID fellows and faculty. Working with #transplant and #TxID patients has been a long-term passion that I am excited to #research moving forward!
This year's AAP/ASCI/APSA Joint Meeting has already been packed with fantastic sessions, #physicianscientist speakers, and leadership from our @a-p-s-a.bsky.social #ASCI #AAP teams. As I pass the torch as APSA #Treasurer, I am excited to see what our #trainee volunteers do next to #SupportAPSA!
It is an honor and a pleasure to serve #physicianscientist trainees in the Vanderbilt #MSTP and beyond as we #SupportAPSA this year. Lots of exciting updates will be shared Joint Meeting 2026 next week, keep an eye out for more benefits, more partners, and ways to engage with @a-p-s-a.bsky.social

My thesis work has been a wealth of experience in #hostmicrobe biology, #MicrobialGenetics, and @microbesinfo.bsky.social that I look forward to sharing later this week! Thank you to the #mentors, collegaues, and #collaborators that worked with me the last 4 years! DM/comment for Zoom info!
Thank you to @vubasicsciences.bsky.social for the 2026 Russell G. Hamilton Excellence in Leadership award, and to my nominators Drs. Eric Skaar and Dr Chris Williams. Representing @vumedicine.bsky.social and the #MSTP through the Skaar Lab, #VI4, and @a-p-s-a.bsky.social continues to be an honor.
In new work just published in @cp-trendsmicrobiol.bsky.social, we reviewed exciting new data in #abscess formation of #Staphylococcus aureus. These translational findings have the potential to improve studies of #temporal and #spatial components of abscess architecture!
Any opportunity to serve #physicianscientist trainees through @a-p-s-a.bsky.social is one I am excited to participate in. Glad to fill-in as part of the fantastic #PR team led by @bribrammer.bsky.social!
Thanks to @kyletenriquez.bsky.social for live-blusky-ing tonight and our PR tea for their continued hard work. Join us next time, and see you at the AAP/ASCI/APSA Joint Meeting!
Very much looking forward to the 2026 Joint Meeting in Chicago this year, both as a poster presenter on clinical #QualityImprovement work through @vubasicsciences.bsky.social surrounding #CMV in immunocompromised hosts and as the @a-p-s-a.bsky.social 2025-26 Treasurer. See you there!
A huge congratulations to SEMSS for a fantastic regional meeting, celebrating 15 years of SEMSS! 🎉 #SEMSS2025 was hosted by the University of Alabama-Birmingham MSTP, with 280+ registered attendees, 195 trainee presentations, and over 40 institutions represented.

Thank you to the VUMC ID Fellows for their #collaboration on this #QualityImprovement work, presented @idweek.bsky.social and the Vanderbilt Center for Transplant Science #VCTS Symposium. This #QI work highlights our progress to prevent #CMV in #LungTransplant recipients!
My mentors @vubasicsciences.bsky.social encouraged the #CollaborativeScience behind this work from the Chazin and Skaar labs, with co-author Randy Perera. Excited to have published this work @proteinsociety.bsky.social studying #Calprotectin and #StaphAureus onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10....
The C‐terminal extension of calprotectin mediates zinc chelation and modulates Staphylococcus aureus biomass accumulation
Calprotectin (CP) is an S100A8/S100A9 heterodimer that plays an important role in nutritional immunity at the host–microbe interface. CP combats Staphylococcus aureus growth by sequestration of zinc ...

#SEMSS2025 was another reminder of the fantastic #mstp #physicianscientist communities facilitated by UAB,Vanderbilt, and Emory MSTPs and supported by @a-p-s-a.bsky.social. This conference is possible thanks to our APSA partners @laskerfdn.bsky.social @the-asci.org @bwfund.bsky.social #SupportAPSA
Proud of the #physicianscientist #mstp trainees in Vanderbilt's MSTP that participated in #NLPD #NationalLatinoPhysicianDay, supporting and learning to provide better care to all of our patients!
Thankful I got to collaborate with @caitmurdoch.bsky.social on another project before she started her lab @universityofri.bsky.social. Check out this new work modelling #ZincDeficiency in mice, used to in part understand the 20% of people worldwide that are zinc deficient.
Looking forward to representing @a-p-s-a.bsky.social at #SEMSS2025 this weekend thanks to the work of all of the volunteers at UAB, Vanderbilt, and Emory MSTPs. Any opportunity to #SupportAPSA and meet with #physicianscientist #mstp colleagues is one I cant pass up. See you in #Birmingham!
Last month I attended the #GRS and #GRC on Staphylococcal Diseases. The conference was an excellent opportunity to meet new colleagues, learn with and about the vibrant #Staphylococcal community, and get ideas on #Zinc #ZNG1 research, coming soon
Last week I had the opportunity to present #QI work on #LungTxp and #CMV at the @fredhutch.bsky.social ICH ID Symposium. Thanks to the #TravelAward committee, my VUMC mentors, and those who attended the poster to learn about new efforts to improve #TxID care at Vanderbilt!
The 5th @fredhutch.bsky.social Symposium on Infectious Diseases in the Immunocompromised Host was such a great opportunity to engage with the #TxID community. The conference was an incredible experience, highlighting the need for #discovery in #ICH and motivating research for these patients.
Michael Boeckh highlights the grow of the the @fredhutch Symposium on Infections - matching interest the field of #TxID It’s easy to see why with an expansion of tools to study and apply to improve outcomes in our patients!
Our sponsors like @laskerfdn.bsky.social are the reason #JointMeeting25 was so successful. This year was RECORD BREAKING for @a-p-s-a.bsky.social attendees and for Residency Luncheon participants. This year will be even bigger and better, the plans are in the works! #SupportAPSA
