She/her, voracious reader, product-oriented knitter, disabled leftist, mom to cats and a human teen.

Finished my pre-ordered copy of Daggerbound by @tkingfisher.com and here's my recap: -Zale makes an appearance (#blessed) -Main Character with undercover hero energy -A new species has entered the villa All in all, another hit by the author who doesn't fucking miss, 10/10.

Having a teenager is like watching someone load a firearm and you can’t ask them why or they shout at you, then ten minutes later you’re cleaning up blood and calling 911 while they patronizingly explain that they’ve been unexpectedly shot due to circumstances beyond their control.

Hi I’m Kim and I like to coordinate my bookmark to the book it’s in either in aesthetics or theme and that’s totally normal, right? Anyways everyone should read @nghivo.bsky.social at least so that if you don’t like her books I’ll know you can’t hang.

Birthday book for the “Deities on Earth” themed milestone year: I did NOT have “Akwaeke Emezi shortens Leviathan to Levi” on my gift book bingo card for this year, shame on me.

Mother’s Day breakfast on the deck, blessedly alone and quiet in the sun, with a new book: heaven. (@amalelmohtar.com is an always-read author for me, and absolutely supported that choice by adding footnotes to the preface for almost no other reason than to share a laugh with the reader)

My neighbors on the other side of the duplex just asked me if we got a new TV remote because something was interfering with their television, as if buttons were being pressed when they were not pressing any buttons.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but there is absolutely nothing stopping you from referring to the act of filling your birdfeeders as “recharging the cat TV”

For right-wingers who want to preserve any sort of public career in a post-Trump reality without being constantly haunted by their past disgrace, "Renee Good's murder is a bridge too far for me" is one of the easiest off-ramps in the world. I think we should take note of who declines to use it.

Sohrab Ahmari thinks that the officer was in danger and had a right to kill Renee Good. He’s as bad as any MAGA.

I need the whole country to recognize that saying we are not in a constitutional crisis because Donald Trump has not openly defied a court order is like saying a man who throws things at you, threatens you, controls and belittles you, isn’t abusive because he hasn’t hit you. The “yet” is implied.

I used (maybe coined?) a phrase to describe a frustrating coworker that comes to mind when I read the news these days: incompetence feels like innovation to people who don’t understand the work.

fantasizing about a world where an opposition congress responds to trump’s attempts to usurp legislative power by defunding the entire white house staff

A three-judge panel for the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals wrote that the "defendants do not cite any authority in support of their administrative stay request or identify any harm related to a specific funding action or actions that they will face without their requested administrative stay."

BREAKING: Appeals court rejects the Trump administration's bid to immediately reinstate a massive federal funding freeze.

Today, Tituba is often portrayed as the sole non-white individual embroiled in the Salem witch trials. However, several other enslaved women and men were unfortunately drawn into the conflict as the panic wore on. Check out our blog to learn about two such individuals, Candy and Mary Black.

This quote from "Raybearer" by Jordan Ifueko hits pretty hard these days - "Monsters were nothing. The true terrors were people like me—the ones who saw suffering, who heard the screams of a hundred generations echoing for miles around them—and still did nothing." #BookSky 🩵📚
