You're looking at an "Upside Down Jellyfish" (genus Cassiopea) & I think you can guess how they got their name. This is them most of the time: Not only tentacles up, but on the sea floor. But that's not the interesting thing. The interesting thing is they have no brain, but still can sleep.

Parachoerodon rhynchus, a new genus and species of choerolophodontids from the Miocene of northern China. The skull is based on the holotype IVPP V23457 and paratype IVPP V23213.

A juvenile Diplodocus is slipping out post-bedtime for a late #FossilFriday post. Like other Mesozoic dinosaurs, young diplodocids were proportioned differently than adults, bearing shorter necks, faces and tails. The mottled skin pattern is based on (very tentative) palaeocolour data. #paleoart
