Seshat was the goddess of knowledge and astronomy, inventor of writing, and divine record keeper, marking the passage of time on a notched palm rib. Here, the diagram she draws invokes how the Moon's "cratering record" is used in the study of planetary chronology. #SkyhorseCarousel #SciArt
This shit is why you can't separate continuing to financially support the Harry Potter IP (whether by buying the games, merch, watching the new TV show when its out) from the consequences of what JK Rowling does with that money She's become so stiflingly powerful that even private docs arent safe
I've never seen such an effort to censor a document as I have the Amnesty International report on gender critical groups because of JK Rowling. They removed the report from the Wayback Machine and now I got a DMCA strike on my Google Drive for having it. It was deleted and removed from my account.
"We would rather eat rocks and drink gasoline than be split up" - Compulsion Games has officially completed its buyout from Xbox and now owns all its IP. Players who buy games like South of Midnight are now supporting the studio directly, its CEO says. www.videogameschronicle.com/news/we-woul...

Riven *needed* the recovery time. She was in hysterics, and her summons were equally as fucked up. Ever since the encounter with Aulus mal Asina, she had a lockdown spell intermingled with her arcanistry tattoos that should something happen to her soul by force, her summoning ability would be sealed
#wolqotd / #wolquestion your wol has just finished "in from the cold" and have been granted about 12-24 hours to rest and recover from the ordeal. what does this stretch of time look like for them? are they actually resting, or do they need to be forced? who do they want sitting there with them?
Not sure what else anybody might need. Even if you don't care about the environment. Even if you don't care about IP theft. Even if you don't care about a world full of incompetence. "It literally makes you dumber."
Woah.
I found the news report. NONE of our foodstuffs is safe anymore. We're gonna have to grow our own Twinkies snacks! /cries www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/o...

Meet the destroyer HMS Glowworm. In April 1940 she was forced to fight the German Heavy Cruiser Admiral Hipper, ten times her size, and Hipper's destroyer escorts. Her extraordinary last stand earned her captain the first Victoria Cross of WW2. In part because THE GERMANS nominated him for one /1 🧵

“‘That mark will be the kiss of death on any piece of text that people can sell,’ another said. ‘People won’t want to pay for it. It will be a scarlet letter.’” OMG! How am I supposed to get paid for work I didn’t do?!

SUPER MEGA ULTIMATE NUCLEAR BLOCK GO!
This is 100% why people who've been on X for years now get so weirdly bummed out by Bluesky or any other site. It isn't that bsky is a 'bubble', it's that being a shithead in the replies gets you an immediate nuclear-block, rather than immediately rewarded with Skinner-box treats
Unboxing copies of my new novel The Fist Of Memory. Its got aliens, assassins and ancestors + some chapters open with quotes from Hagakure: The Book Of The Samurai so I thought it would be cool to open the box with a samurai sword. Fancy, I know. Out in October but you can preorder it right now.
I actually am missing like 7,000+ followers at the moment, so I’d like to humbly request a favor. Could you RT this post to reconnect me with My friends? 👉👈 Not everyone knows I’m back 🥺
No it is absolutely the right answer in many cases. Not only should you cut them off, make sure you fucking bomb the bridge behind you. 🧵

“Writing builds our working memory, executive planning skills and metacognition — the ability to think about our thinking, weigh alternate viewpoints and revise for clarity and style. It takes decades to develop writing skills, from toddlerhood into adulthood.”
What Do Students Lose When They Stop Writing?
Educators are worried that many students can no longer write essays without A.I. And it’s costing more than just grammar skills.

I have destroyed lots of books. They won’t make an impact on the state of community knowledge. What is being described here? You are watching us lose knowledge in hyperdrive. You should not be chill about this.
Once again and over and over until it gets through: archives and libraries scanning something for preservation is an entirely different story than private citizens and companies doing it, because there are strict ethical standards for the former and the latter consider them annoyances.
It must be nice to be so cool that watching books with irreplaceable human knowledge is being sucked into a tool owned by Amazon doesn’t worry you in the slightest. Alas, I am not that cool and I also have studied history.
Hey, guys, when the librarians get pissed about the destruction of books, it’s time to put those listening ears on. Because we are very comfortable with the idea that books are tools that can be retired. What’s happening right now is not that.
Discomfort is an essential part of growth and wouldn’t it be so embarrassing to be the exact same person thirty years from now, in a totally different world, because you were so averse to discomfort?
This I imagine, would resonate extremely hard with healers who have stepped into that breach to protect their patients--in fact I'm thinking about any healer WoLs and the attack at Rhalgr's Reach in the first part of Stormblood. You just *know* they went after the infirmary.
the notion that either of these groups would be willing to die for those they protect is carefully avoided calyx’s necrophobia is so severe, he either cannot conceive of a love and devotion that is stronger than death—or worse, he cannot imagine such a love as deserving honor.
