Whenever an art installation goes up in a city, you get a lot of dingbats scoffing about how it'll be vandalized within three months, even though that never happens because cities and neighbourhoods are very proud of their art. Then again these are the same people who think murals are vandalism.

Kent monkman's "The Colony", a large statue bronze statue of beavers doing their thing in Toronto's new Biidaasige Park. "Monkman’s larger-than-life beavers—a nod to the mistahi-amiskwak, the giant beavers of traditional Cree stories and the Castoroides of Pleistocene era—feast, sing, dance, and celebrate, evoking Indigenous ceremonies as well as the opulent baroque sculptures of the gardens at Versailles. Their fanciful lodge also references Italian artist Veremondo Rossi’s 1763 engraving La Caccia Dei Castori."

Bleh. Been sick all week, and I'm not done with it yet. Or it's not done with me. Whatever. Which is why I'm just popping on to say that there will unfortunately be no Halloween stream tonight as planned, but HOPEFULLY tomorrow will be another story.
