You know, I often say that playing old video games is like learning a language. The more you play them the better you become at understanding their vocabulary, the structure, etc. You can become fluent in classic video games, but I think a lot of people simply have lost it, or never learned how to.

I read an article on the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia website that says you're a child. And what's worse, you're one of the ones doctors don't want to heal
It's really funny seeing streaming services discover how TV works from first principles. Or at least it would be if they hadn't completely gutted the entire film and TV industry first.
A new report from Luminate has found that long gaps between seasons of streaming TV shows are leading to major losses in viewership. More than a 1 year gap is seen to largely cause a significant loss in viewership. (Source: luminatedata.com/reports/2026...)
when a GBA game looks great it's like an alternate timeline where the SEGA Saturn kept going for 5 more years but everyone decided to outdo each other's pixel-art and when a GBA game looks bad it's like you're looking at an edutainment java game for cellphones
Sometimes when I go off about mini-maps people think I’m just being contrarian or difficult or too obsessed with “friction” or at worst gatekeepy, but I firmly believe that what Aura’s writing about here is worth considering more & more as opportunities for thought get taken from us in everyday life

The official stance from @gbstudiocentral.com “We know they directly enable crimes against humanity but they also kick us some blood money so 🤷♂️” Seeing such a niche, exciting corner of game dev decide to hitch their wagon to a weapons dealer makes me sick to my stomach. Never been more disappointed

Reminder that it doesn't matter how good your actors are, your dubs will always be missing something if you refuse to invest proper money and time in scripts. The current best rates and turnarounds for adapters are so laughably bare minimum that the industry has been bleeding talent for decades.

"but the developers always had this vision, they were just limited by hardware and had to adapt" Wow, you mean constraints actually create space for making meaningful creative decisions? Imagine that.

This book from 2002 is an incredible time capsule of Y2K graphic/web design. Absolute goldmine if you're into that aesthetic, and also a kind of mausoleum for a visually interesting internet that no longer exists. 🔗 archive.org/details/tasc...
AI stans keep comparing AI to cars and I think the comparison is revealing in ways they very much don't intend A technology with broadly negative impacts on society we were forced to restructure our lives around due to enormous corporate lobbying? One we are struggling to eliminate today?
I like this list! There are a lot of bad metal gear takes out there in the world but Harper's are not among them
Oh wow! I’ve been running around so much after moving back east that I missed that this went live! 😵💫😵💫😵💫 A bit of fun: what are the best and worst parts of each Metal Gear game? How great is Raiden? How bad is MSG4 suddenly making Johnny an important character? Lemme break it all down for ya…
I usually approach folks directly but when I start writing projects, I like kicking off with a bit of art. So I'm wondering if any art folks/followers might be interested in taking a commish? Two characters, halfbody, can keep it pretty sketchy and loose. Give a shout if you'd be down to talk.

They were hell-bent on *not* introducing any model of back-end, after-the-fact payments that were tied to the game's success. Why? Because they were reportedly frightened of a "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie"-scenario where, if the *actors* got that, the *devs* would start asking for that. <cont'd>
