Editor of ATOMIC ROBO, co-writer/-creator of ARISE, YE SKELETON KING!. Executive they/them, thanks. Hi. How are you

Hey comics people, The Dark Horse union needs your support right now. Senior editors do more work than most of you can possibly imagine and they deserve to be apart of the union. Some of them have been waiting a long time for this. Stand with them! Please sign and share this petition!

On summer roadtrips my parents would get us a few Donald Duck comics from gas station spinner racks, ig there was a big reprint run in the ‘80s? They were great bc even as a small child I loved history & they were so clearly products of an earlier time, but still comprehensible & v fun reading

If you’re a comics fan, what’s the earliest comic book you can remember reading? And what kind of impression did it make on you?

also real talk even if you get into a prestigious fair or get picked up by an indie publisher you still aren't going to make enough money to quit your day job So i think you should just draw the unpublishable sicko shit you really want to draw and print a doujinshi

Every con, doubly and triply so the big ones, I hate watching COVID rip through them, but c'mon y'all. Mask up. It didn't go away. Long covid is still al thing. We don't HAVE to have super spreader cons. We don't. It's a choice, now.

I'm turning 40 next month (Aug) and it would be really rad if someone made fanart of my characters. Totally okay if no one does it. I'll be sad, but that'll be like most birthdays, and I'll just draw 'fanart' of my own characters or scream into a manuscript.

Today is the birthday of cartoonist Jackie Ormes (Aug. 1, 1911-Dec. 26, 1985), the first Black woman to create a newspaper comic strip that was read nationally in the US. She created Torchy Brown in Dixie to Harlem, Torchy in Heartbeats & Patty-Jo ‘n’ Ginger. Patty Jo became a toy doll.

Anyway I’ve been taking my regular T-break and so have been awake since 3 AM because my personal experience is that THC doesn’t suppress normal dreaming so much but it definitely puts a lid on having really upsetting nightmares

If my Madonna catalogue relisten thread is bugging you you know you can just mute it and be free. I’m having a really good time relistening to albums I’ve loved for decades with the Ghost of Madonna Future on my shoulder but you don’t have to come with us in the magic dance time machine

If anyone uses Stripe to get payments, go to your Settings (Gear icon) > Plans and Fees > Radar (View plan details) > View Plans > Scroll to "More Options" and select "Lite" I want none of the money I earn to go to AI if I can help it.

nice, now Stripe is auto-opting people into a nickel charge per transaction for "AI-enhanced" protection shit they never asked for you can change it back to their free "Lite" version, but the fact that it's opt-out by default is so fucking annoying

Thinking Alan Ritchson is too tiny to play Reacher because he’s two whole inches short of the character’s book height is some real “No I won’t sleep with you Scarlett Johansson your elbows are too bony for me” nonsense. He was already played by a dude who is famously about a foot off, get a grip

I'm looking to put together a couple of test groups to play the RPG I wrote about Toshers, Victorian sewer hunters. If you are interested let me know.

A rules-lite RPG of scrounging and horror in the sewers of Victorian London

THE PREMISE
London, sometime in the 1850s–80s. Above ground: gaslight, soot, and the endless churn of the richest city on Earth. Below ground: eight hundred miles of brick sewer, and the toshers who work it; scavengers who wade the tunnels at low tide with a hoe, a sack, and a bullseye lantern, hunting for coin, cutlery, bone, rope, and rag the city has flushed away without noticing.
It's illegal, filthy, and occasionally lucrative. It's also, some nights, not entirely sane down there. Older toshers don't talk much about the deep stretches, brickwork that predates any surveyor's map, the tides that come in against the moon, the tunnels that are very slightly the wrong shape if you look at them too long. They call it gas and nerves. They also, without exception, refuse to work certain junctions alone.
You are a tosher. Tonight the tide's low and there's a job on. Something is going to follow you back up.
