as noted yesterday, Trump has now come around to treating an Iranian toll system covering the Strait of Hormuz as a given. Hard to overstate the level of strategic failure. US started the war purely as a war of choice and ends up dramatically empowering Iran and given the Iranian govt big wins.

"Making fees voluntary, at least nominally, could be a way out of the impasse, although an implied threat of Iranian attacks could mean shippers would be unlikely to risk transit without paying."
As a local cllr, I felt quite insulted by the suggestion that all we do is ‘deal with parking & sorting out the bins’, suggesting that because we’re so trivial it’s OK to put up a convicted anti-Semite as a prospective cllr.

Badenoch's ignorance and dismissal of local government is appalling. Does she not know that a major part of local govt finance goes on social care, not bins? With her attitude, Tory losses in local elections '25 and '26 will continue into '27 and '28.

Sure this patronising line will also go down well with the 4,000 Tory councillors, who are quite important when canvassing for elections

Andrew Tate’s lawyer is claiming they will be executed in the U.K. Unfortunately MAGAs will believe anything so just to be really clear, there is no such thing as the death penalty in the U.K. and there hasn’t been for many decades.
I'm happy to accept that they may be able to reform and take part in society more generally. But there are some things which you can't just brush by and 'being a nazi and jailed for racist abuse of MPs' is one of them.
I do, in fact, think that Neo-Nazis should be pushed out of public life permanently.

Bay Area friends: would you consider opening your home to these two cuddly cats? A friend found them behind a gas station. Their sibling, a black cat, got adopted, but it appears no one likes orange cats. They are being kept in a bathroom for the time being and need a home.

Unfortunately, she's unable to keep them and I'm trying to find them a home. They are at risk of going to a shelter. Bay Area people, are you open to adopting?
