The confusion about the "two blades of a scissor" is so funny to me.
Because it only makes sense if you're not Iranian and you have no interest in understanding how imperialist aggression and state oppression is experienced by people in Iran.
You act outraged at the analogy because you read it as a comparison between two states and "which one is worse"

Iranians live in Iran. It's IR cops that can arrest and kill them. It's the IR judicial system that will sentence them. It's IR-run jails and prisons they'll be put in. It's the IR political system that rules over them, and the IR laws they must follow.
They're also bombed by US and Israel, and feel the constriction of the economic sanctions around their necks. But these are not experienced as opposing forces to "align with"
They're not choices to evaluate for
their futures. They're simultaneous realities. Blades of a scissor.
And these forms of violence, contrary to the beliefs of both pro-oppression and pro-imperialism "sides" don't happen to different people or different demographics. They happen to the same people.

I think the thing the racist prof defenders imply but don't like to admit is there's no benefit to hiring/debating a guy who says mushrooms are created by fae because it's obviously silly but they do think it's worth your time to debate a race science guy because they think he's partially correct
