IMOD models, eLab/paper notes, "that feature in that one tomo"... keeping track across 1000s of #CryoET tomograms was hard! TOMATO puts tomos and notes in one place. Combine it with LLMs and it's an awesome base for building more: morphometrics, contactomes, anything turning visuals into numbers! 🥳😍

Research software is costly and time-consuming to produce because it requires focused time from developers who have invested years learning to master their craft, just like art. There is nothing to celebrate about relinquishing intellectual expertise and mastery in favor of fast and cheap.

We tested ConA on various species across the eukaryotic tree and find it is a very useful ExM-compatible marker for the NE and ER. Read all about it in our preprint: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

There are many uses for AI in science - modeling, data analysis, certain diagnostics - none of those are LLMs and frankly not even really “AI” as we’ve come to know it at all and TBH we need a different name for this kind of “AI” so the science stuff can stop getting dragged into this argument.
