Obsession with "fitness" of people is absolutely part of eugenics. Yes, eugenics can be on the left and historically was also popular across the spectrum, so it's not surprising that some people don't get that it's not just a right-wing Stephen Miller project now.

noah fence but if you're pro-israel + still talk abt oct 8 like it's the beginning + end of history, you shouldn't be allowed to block people. you should have to face the criticism your terrible opinion deserves. anyway, @jeninsta11.bsky.social is a proud israel supporter + islamaphobe. easy block.

this article doesn't explain what an algorithm is or why you can't just "turn off" algorithms. it's not great that, like "AI" or "chemicals", "algorithm" is starting to just mean anything and no one in reporting seems to care. we need better journalists than this.

Australians will be able to switch off social media algorithms under planned legislation If tech firms such as Meta, Google and TikTok did not give the option to turn off algorithms, they should face "substantial" penalties www.bbc.com/news/article...

unless you've specifically worked on it, there's probably a mess of social shame and fear and guilt about food and bodies you've picked up from marinating in a toxic culture. when you hear yourself being judgmental about food and bodies, pay attention to your thoughts.

-stop using "GMO" as scary shorthand. A dog is a genetically modified organism. So is any potato you've ever encountered. If you're concerned about seed patents, talk about seed patents. -use the word "ultraprocessed" related to food sparingly if at all, it has littl4 meaning except to connote "bad"

-stop saying "big pharma" when criticizing the medical establishment. -stop paying huge agribusiness a mark up for meaningless labels like "cage free" and "pasture raised" - at the grocery store it's a pretty lie; if it's a priority you can afford you need the farmers market for it.

-stop assigning moral value to food as it relates to health or your food choices. you aren't "being good" or "being bad" in selecting a food choice. -stop assigning moral values to bodies. don't think it becomes ok to do just because the bodies belong to bad people.

kill the MAHA in your head, a non-exhaustive list: -stop using the word "chemicals" in a derogatory way. When criticizing specific types of chemicals, be specific. -stop saying "clean eating" for whatever diet you're on. food you're avoiding isn't dirty or bad just because you are avoiding it.

🎯🎯🎯🎯 Every study initiated on the subject makes it clear that the most effective, cheapest (yes, CHEAPEST, most inexpensive, highest return on investment) forms of aid are direct cash payments with zero means testing, and on-request right-to-housing. These are just facts.

If you object to public-funded housing of homeless people, in the end the objection cannot be the cost, because we pay a premium to be cruel to homeless people. At the bottom of the objection will always sit dehumanizing cruelty and a desire for eradication.
