Bill C-16, which includes my recommended amendment to the criminal harassment law, has passed. We fucking did it 🎉 I am downright stunned that I survived 10 years of being stalked & lived long to see this through. Life is one helluva trip!

Last week, I testified to the Parliamentary Committee on the Status of Women which is currently looking at femicide and gender-based violence. I was asked to summarize in 30 secs or less what my main recommendation was as the ED of @antistalkingcanada.bsky.social Here's my answer ⬇️

You can become disabled in an instant. People think those of us who are sick did “something” to deserve it. We didn’t. The just world fallacy is a lie. It just takes one illness, accident or stroke of bad luck to forever change your life. Disability is not a moral failing.

Today, hundreds of people went to the streets in over 40 cities (!!!) in Germany to demand better support for Myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME/CFS) patients. One of the reasons I chose Germany as my new home. Very proud of you my German friends. #LiegendDemo #MECFS

#MECFSAwarenessDays

I think the reason AI propagandists are so flustered by the fact that no real writer wants to use their idiotic tools is that they themselves don't enjoy writing. They see it as a boring arduous chore to be avoided, while real writers actually enjoy writing and actually care about the quality of it.

This doesn't have to keep happening. It is possible to craft worlds where women and children are safe, rather than objects to be either dominated or protected from the domination of others. It is possible to create a world where people can just be safe in their bodies.

The Cesar Chavez story discussed yesterday is out, in the New York Times. Two women say that he sexually assaulted them as children, beginning when they were 12 and 13. And Dolores Huerta says he raped her in 1966.

“AI can never be AI without humans. It is not artificial intelligence. It’s African intelligence...We are training our own death. We train ChatGPT and it’s killing us slowly.” Kenyan workers are still the underpaid labor behind AI training, moderation, and sex chatbots. Now, they're fighting back.
