I experimented with the acorn again. This is three shades of blue ink with purple and black ink highlights.

God, just @ me why don’t you. Seriously tho, I just went through this in therapy yesterday. I felt like, I’ve already wrestled with this so many times, what do you mean it’s still there? Rude.
triggers. So many think that once you do some shadow work you'll be fine for the rest of your life. People think somehow when you go to therapy or do whatever healing work you do that you no longer have to deal with what that brought up. no. You just have more tools to help you navigate those things
and HOPEFULLY it eases the transition. Shadow Work doesn't mean that your mental health and struggles are now erased. So ignorant. #WitchLife

I went to share something on my Business Page and then my internet went out lol and didn't turn on until now. So I decided to not talk about it there. However, I will say that y'all need to pull your head out your asses. Shadow Work doesn't mean you somehow become 'healed' and you don't have

Yesterday I painted with an acorn and it made this cute pattern.
I had a tab open about Maxwell’s demon because I was going to use it as an image in a poem but I forgot which poem and why…🧐
This really cheers me up. Isn't it amazing how resilient nature can be, and how much potential is there to stop interfering and let it take root again? www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c...

Rest in power to the legendary Betye Saar, a true master who turned assemblage into a sacred language of Black imagination & survival. I wrote about her enduring impact & the brilliant creative lineage of her 3 daughters in my book, THE TONGUE I DREAM IN, out soon from PM Press. We owe her so much.
I hadn’t heard this bit about the director. So sad. He filmed one of the most beautiful scenes I’ve ever seen: the children in a rowboat under the stars. And one of the most villainous villains in the same movie.
Critics lambasted this movie when it was released. Charles Loughton was so crushed by the recption, he never directed again. If you watch it today, it’s clear it was ahead of its time thematically, and technically stunning. boxd.it/25HW

Figured out a way into this poem I’ve been trying to write for weeks! Now to get the shape of it to appear…
Alt text: an assemblage artwork w/ red metal tray base. Tray has partially visible chinoiserie image of a mystical palace in the clouds. The tray holds red circles, red & black paper fan, Mammy doll’s head, & image of dark-skinned woman doing a redhead’s hair & giving the viewer a meaningful look.
I’d been putting off this poem and now that it’s written, I understand why. It’s heavy stuff. Inspired by this assemblage by Betye Saar, “To the Manor Born” 2011. weatherspoonart.org/exhibitions_...
