"Poor deluded freaks" I have a wee list of those for whom I'll raise a glass (derogatory) when the headline drops... Trump's at the top, obviously, but goddamn, Richard Dawkins isn't far behind. Fuck that guy.

My first film was The Care Bears Movie at Glasgow's Odeon on Renfield Street in 1985. When we left the theatre, there were folk in the lobby handing out Care Bears goodie bags to the kids. I was gutted to discover, later in my young life, that not all screenings ended with goodie bags.

First film you saw at the cinema. The real first one, not the pretend one you tell people! Mine: The Empire Strikes Back, 1980, Wigan. We were near the front and I can still remember how massive the AT-ATs looked, looming over us out of the snow :) Film, year, where, and whatever stuck with you.

A reminder that the “trans lobby” is just trans people going about their lives, and the “fight” being referred to is JK Rowling using her money, power and influence to endorse policy that is killing trans people. I’m amazed she could move to type a new essay with the layers of blood on her hands.

Catfood is always marketed as “your refined gentleman Mr Whiskers has only the most discerning of tastes, treat him to the luxury of salmon” and catnip is always marketed as “Mr Whiskers will do ANYTHING for a fix…ANYTHING”

I see we're having a debate about whether it's okay to go back to "X," the site owned by a trillionaire fascist who is currently bankrolling the GOP's midterm, throttled Ukraine's war effort, and still winkingly allows vast amounts of CSAM on his service Answer: No, what the fuck is wrong with you

Prob one of the best pieces I've read about C86 and indiepop in general, and how it all sits in the indie/DIY landscape. “It’s the recurring collision of melody, noise and DIY independence—not perfect stylistic sameness—that makes the label useful.” modernunrest.com/2026/10/12/c...

C86 at 40: The Indie Sound That Never Went Away

Forty years after the NME cassette, C86 lives on through 53rd & 3rd, Subway, Sarah, K, Slumberland and a new generation of noisy, melodic indie-pop bands.

I have never seen coverage of a live trial, one involving allegations of multiple sex attacks on multiple women, framed in a more distasteful way. It's not 'Fame under fire' it's a rape trial. And it involves actual women. And this from the *checks notes* BBC

BBC screengrab from within their Russell Brand trial coverage. Image of Brand in 70s-style aviator glasses, with earpods in, blank expression. Long dark wavy hair, black and grey beard, dark unbuttoned shirt. All on a fire red/orange and black background
BBC logo top and centre, underneath a subdeck reading: Fame Under Fire. Then the headline 'Russell Brand On Trial'.
The words 'fire'and 'trial' are coloured to look like they are glowing orange at the bottom

I was stopped by plain-clothes police today as they were looking for someone fitting my description. Mate, I'm a wee, greying-ginger Scottish guy with a left eye that does what it likes, and I'm carrying a Leica... I suspect there's no many of us wandering about Bielany. Gie's peace.
