Staring God in the face and walking, not backwards into hell, not toward heaven, but a secret, third thing: sideways, arms extended toward my best friend. We're wearing the fusion earrings.

The Microwave Cooking for One site is legit useful. You know that thing that happens when microwave food is half frozen? That’s not inherent to the microwave, it’s because most box microwave instructions are for 1100 watts and your microwave is something else. There’s a conversion chart for that!

Microwave Timing Conversion Charts

These charts help you convert cooking times in a recipe to times for your wattage microwave oven.

did someone say sadder

In 1986, contracting HIV meant you were going to die, usually slowly, painfully, and alone. Now it's a chronic illness like hypertension. In 1986, gay and lesbian couples couldn't have their relationships legally recognized and had to adopt elaborate legal workarounds.

Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.

air travel is one of those experiences that has gotten monotonically worse over my entire lifetime

question though: has *anything* in the last 40+ years genuinely gotten *better*?

like, there's *more* stuff, sure, but is any of it *better*?

10. I do not have a guilty pleasure read because there is no such thing as a guilty pleasure when it comes to books read the shit you like, I am a forty one year old man who loves romance novels and there is not a goddamn thing about the pleasure of reading romance novels that is guilty

i've said it before but it's too easy to just say "we've all got something going on" and leave it there. individualism and silence is beating our asses and giving us shoulder pain from all the shrugging. it's frustrating and i need us all to be present and actively listen and act accordingly.
