32; they/them; queer & fat & full of love

Whew. I’ve really gotten out of the habit of being able to share my inner world. There’s been so much happening externally in the lives of my loved ones—urgent health or emotional stuff—and my schedule has been off kilter with work/life. I feel like my well is dry.

My curse is having a ton of cool art supplies, materials, and vintage ephemera but all of it takes up the space required to actually MAKE anything so I end up frustrated and stuck at all times. Mired in my earthly possessions.

I think I’m in a metaphorical compost era. Detritusmaxxing. I need to break down and clear out a lot of what’s in and around me. Enzyme-core. Whatever. Anyway, here’s hoping regrowth begins soon.

Unbelievable that we’re nearly two thirds of the way through this year. I feel I’ve barely been able to keep my head above water since January. It’s all gone by very quickly.

It’s not just Texas. Prisons in South Carolina are restricting inmates’ access to books by limiting approved book vendors, which is also preventing incarcerated students from accessing books needed for college courses. A story from @prisonjournalism.bsky.social reporter Gary K. Farlow

How South Carolina Prisons Are Limiting Access to Books

The state has cut down its list of approved book vendors. Some people can’t receive their books or assignments for classes.

This year has been surreal and I think maybe I’ve been inside of a spatial-temporal membrane bubble type deal the whole time. Trying hard to connect and engage with life but it’s all just fuzzy shapes and movement so my thoughts and hands slip over it all without really grasping anything.

This was a race I was following because Trump endorsed Feely and pissed off some of the locals with that. TPUSA basically refused to publicly endorse the race because they didn't want to piss off the local base and are like contractually obligated to kiss Trump's ass 24/7.

The way I just fucking cheered that AP has called the U.S. House District 1 GOP race and AZ Rep. Joseph Chaplik lost against former NFL player Jay Feely. Obviously Feely sucks too but Chaplik was who the local GOP wanted to win and his whole personality is hating trans people and unhoused people so.

Hi friends. Just booked a hotel room for the night for Cass, a personal friend who was evicted from their apartment today. Can you help us raise $56 for another night? I will book for them again, as they are overdrafted. Venmo is @marlainathorslev and can provide Zelle or PayPal info, if needed.

Looking to speak with any Black folks in New Mexico, Arizona, Missouri, Maryland, Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Washington, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, or Colorado (whew) who have had their Medicaid or SNAP benefits abruptly canceled! (I’m writing about how AI systems are denying benefits)

There’s nothing quite like driving right beside a torrential storm in AZ. Seeing red rock glow against deep blue-gray skies and looking over to see sheets of solid rain sluicing through canyons a few miles from the highway. Yesterday’s drive was quite pretty.

Woke up severely depressed and am realizing it’s likely PMDD. I can’t imagine how many lives have been lost due to this. It’s surreal to become this acutely depressed overnight. Bleh!

Approach zine making the same way that you made blog posts 10 years ago. Do you have an opinion that maybe 8 friends and like 3 strangers might be interested in? An answer to a question that's infrequently asked? A rant you could turn into a tight 5? that's zine material right there, buds

Got to make a character and play a bit of Flying Circus with pals yesterday and hoo boy, I’m going to learn a lot about planes by the end of this. This game is crunchy and I like it.
